exist: you got me wrong here. I am not out of my mind to call an ivy league school a safety. what i meant was ppl in the consultancies dont even know that IVY league schools exist. having worked at a famous consultancy in nepal, i know the ground reality.

anyway, i dont think anyone of you from CC will have to visit such consultancies as all of you will certainly end up in a fairly decent school. goodluck

rena-itsme: such things as the rigourousness of the courses u took in high school should be mentioned in the recos and the teacher evaluation. if u look at the teacher evaluation form, there is this section where it asks your teacher to list the courses you took with him/her and the difficulty of the course. so that should help

Tousin… Perhaps you took me too literally. I know that every cc members are well known about competition in ivys. What i meant to say is that since we are talking about safe colleges, it is useless to discuss if somebody knows about ivys or not. my friends with sat score in the range of 1200 have safely landed in state universities with full scholarship (thanks to the consultancy). You cannot expect every cc visitors and members to get into 1st or 2nd tier colleges. At least i cannot because i could not do so: this is my 2nd gap year. While applying to competative colleges a student should also look for safeties. state universities are better option than small colleges like lee, caldwel or saintpeters. So while looking for safeties, if a consultancy claims to provide ful scholarship in good state unis one should put some faith on them.

Issacnewton, i cannot show confidence in my college list because i have seen 1540 scorer rejected by every colleges he aplied to and a 1450 scorer friend dumping his dream of going to top tier colleges by getting admitted in lee university(999th tier college) Therefore my college list will contain comparatively descent safeties along with reaches and matches from the very begining.

oh exist , it sounds so discouraging! But truth is bitter anyway. It is your second gap year so you are so worried about the thing. Anyways, all we can do is hope for the best. the application thing is very unpredictable, you never know!

My heart beat is increasing now! 1540 with full rejection! But there are still people with 1340 getting into Yale and dartmouth. But I am afraid they were not Nepalese.

Yes, I couldn’t write a good enough essay to consider applying for ED. The same event is happening this time round with EA. But since I’ve already sent my application, I’ll have to write something.

And how are we supposed to deal with the “How did you come to know about the college…” types? I mean writing an essay on that sort of topic is really troublesome, we could just finish the whole thing in two lines, but an essay! ugh!

Its okey to ask why we applied their college but its crazy to write an essay on the mode of our knowledge about them. One cannot express anything about oneself or his thinkings. Perhaps colleges selects those who can deal with silly questions.
