ResrchMom - My D has been 3 times, my H and I each once. D had a call back from UE during college auditions at Georgia ThesCon last year, liked what she saw online so added UE to her spring break college tour trip that she took with my husband last year. Loved it. She and I went back in October so I could feel the love, and she just got back last Sunday from the UE Road Trip weekend. Still loves it (the theatre dept more so than the school and town), but it is neck and neck with the University of Alabama Birmingham Theatre, which she also loves and has the advantage (or disadvantage depending on your point of view) of being run by my former UMn classmate/colleague/UtahShakes boss from theatre days gone by… Has your D been there yet?

Wow! Great day for acceptances! Ugadog, so exciting to hear what a great time (except w/ Avis) that you all had on your trip. I think you guys are going to end up with tough decisions to make. I think that’s a problem we would all love to have :). Congrats to everyone! Keep the good news rolling in!

Congrats to all on the big fat envelopes that are starting to arrive! I wonder, too, how I will be able to manage to wait until D gets home to open her mail. Darn that after school musical practice!

Congratulations everyone!! Too many to name :)

Thanks for sharing all of the news. It’s so exciting!

The last couple of years we have started a “Decisions” thread. People listed their results (good and bad) and explained their choice. It was really informative for the next ones coming up.

I am so happy to see all of the parents who were worried about no acceptances now seeing their kids with several really nice options. It seems like it always works out that way.

But what do you do when a thin envelope comes, and you know your kid has had a bad day already?

Thin envelopes can be GOOD NEWS. Just keep your “audition day” face, and wait until you know what’s inside!

My D was on a choir trip when lots of answers came in at the end of March. We knew it was going to be a tough time - all 4 of her reach schools sent out within two days. She decided she’d wait to look at e-mail, online status, etc. when she got home. In some ways that was a good idea, because she didn’t have the pain while on the trip. But on the other hand, she risked - and experienced - getting 4 rejections simultaneously.

What helped was that she kept hearing from other kids about their results all weekend, the ones who were checking e-mail and online during the trip. Hearing some big surprises, good and bad, did prepare her a lot for her own results.

She said getting 4 rejections all at once was really rough, and there was nothing I could do to help her. She had great acceptances in hand already, but because she’d chosen to shoot both high and low, she was bound to have some sad news. She’s all over it now, though! It’s amazing how this phase just disappears when it’s over … kind of like childbirth.

Well, just got my rejection from UArts. That sucks.

Now I’m thinking that I also won’t get accepted to CalArts, because I’ve gotten a good vibe from both schools, although I did go shadow a student at CalArts.

sorry Milks, Have you heard from Cal Arts yet? My D got her rejection from Cal Arts today
auditioned Jan 31. Got email that said to check decision on web.

My son just got a rejection letter from Purchase. Too bad. He auditioned for them at Unifieds, and he did comment at the time that it was his worst audition.

mom2gals: I haven’t heard back from CalArts yet. “Your application is pending a review.” is what the site says. But considering I thought I did ok in both schools and I didn’t get into UArts, I’m not sure I’ll get into CalArts now :(

no Milky, I think you are very CalArts. I have a good feeling about you and that program
Mom doesn’t lie, you hang in their hon.

Wish I could reach through the computer and give y’all hugs!
Rejections are awful.

Heads up to all, though. I know great things are coming your way (or your child’s)!

I auditioned at CalArts on Jan.20th, have not heard anything yet how do you get the online application status? I only get you submitted your application info now?

mom2gals - Let’s hope you’re right! I can’t help but feel a little bit hopeless. Although I do have an acceptance for Columbia College Chicago, I don’t really want a BA and I can’t work with a BA in my country (which means that I would have to enroll another college to do the equivalence).

Londream - I think she was referring to the status here: https://aar.calarts.edu/applicantx.html

Thanks Milky just checked no change there,I to agree I think you would be a perfect fit for CalArts;)

I am sorry Milky…

Milk- where are you finding a status for Cal Arts, we are only seeing the materials that were received…

I saw on the MT thread that UM statuses have been updated on wolverine access
