Michigan is 12th on my (current) list of 12. Howeverrrrr, I absolutely don’t hate it: I think it’s a fantastic place and would be pretty stoked to go there, it’s just that I like 11 places a lot better (but expect those 11 to change over two weeks if I don’t make it on December 15th).

Congratulations Tetris! You have some pretty nice safety right there!

I am so dying under a pile of work. Aargh. I have to read 26 books (!) before December 1;
prepare for my schools exams, SAT IIs, probably a SAT I retake, work on my British AND American applications and my ECs, finish two research projects… And work on my job.

Yes, yes, yes. And I haven’t even procrastinated this time!

I gotta stop visiting this forum…all of these chance me threads depress the hell out of me.

Malik, DO NOT LET THE CHANCE THREADS GET TO YOU. I freakin hate chance threads. I’m currently airing my grievances on the Yale forum about them.

Argh GuiltyBystander I feel ya! But at least for the British application you don’t have to do different essays for each school, that will help you a little!

I have done absolutely nothing productive today. Loves it.

hey ninja!
i hope you’ll get well soon! swine flu sucks ![]()
i couldn’t take the SAT as well…but I think/hope it’s just an average flu

byebye

Thanks chocolate curl, I hope you feel better soon too! Being ill in general is just rubbish. Bleurgh.

I had something to say here and now I’ve completely forgotten it.

oh yes…it does suck! but tomorrow is sunday so we can stay in bed an just relax :)

aaw…hm…sorry but i can’t really help with this one :p

get well soon :)

Get well soon, guys!

I gotta chill with my fellow internationals more. From the looks of it people here are less discouraging than the members in other forums lol. I did EA for Purdue, Drexel, and Northeastern with an 1820 SAT score ( :(. Took it again yesterday though and I’m hoping for at least a 1900), and a 740 on my World History subject test. Taking ML2 and Chem next month, and maybe the SAT again in Jan, even though I really don’t want to, ugh. Drexel and Purdue are my safeties and I hope I get into those, along with Northeastern. Here’s hoping my US Citizen/African living in Sudan status + my essay about my experience living in the West & Sudan gives me an edge.

haaha to above, the ‘edge’ is cutting me, its so sharp. [i meant that in a good way. and yes, im lame, so sue me… that reminds me yesterday i went out to city after SAT2s because they were so uberly depressing, and we had dinner at this really nice jap place, but i think there was sth in the food because i went really high. not drug-high, just really hyper-high. the park near sydney terminal station has lots of pigeons. and then i was like, if you take the EONS off pigeons, its a PIG. i couldnt stop laughing. my friends were like… errr. we dont know you-faces. LOL.]
ANYWAY. that was a weird spiel. back to topic:
OMG NINJA. awwww… swine flu… at least youre getting better and get time off work, even for the wrong reason? theres no big loss without some small gain, i suppose.
talk about weird timing. at least yale were really nice about the application thing? only is it mean of me to laugh about thinking about the person who got the call?
“hi, im a yale applicant. can you switch my application to RD, because i have swine flu?”
if that wasnt funny, sorry. from the pigEONS story, you all know i have an, umm, odd sense of humour.
and yes, this is an EPIC post. i am currently sorastinating to avoid studying for my last year 12 leaving exam which is in 2.5 days. woe is me. sighh.
ANNND my formal is the DAY after that exam… i have no time to shop. i shall rock up to the formal in a potato sack, as i told chocolatecurl. TOT
ahwell. at least noone else will have my ‘dress’. i have a really funny story about 3 girls wearing the same formal dress, but i shall refrain from making this post longer.
GOODLUCK ALL!! from 14th november onwards, i will DEDICATE myself to excercise, yoga, commonapp applications, my northwestern biology course, list of books and movies and dramas to watch and other sundry things on my post-hsc-list, NOT in that order.
i’ll leave youse to guess which is #1. :)

Ever thought of trying your hand at dramatics Sora? :P

dramatics? no idea what that means, LOL. hahaha, im so lost. im on a timtam high.
ive been told that im over-dramatic over some things though, lol.
but i swear, it was an OVER-DRAMA-INSTIGATING occurrence. this is too good not to tell.
before the story, you need background info on the rules of student-train-travelling in sydney.
see, all high school students who need to use the train get a train pass, right? but the limit on it is from 6AM~7PM weekdays, only using the most direct route possible to and from school.
now rewind back to that fateful day:
once upon a 2009september, ‘tis the day of a friends’ 18th birthday. since it was a friday, and we had our leaving exams in a month or so, it was a small outing with just four of us, because our other friends couldnt make it. [incidentally, the real birthday party was a joint fairy or pirate-dress up party at HUNGRY JACKS (sort of like a maccas, for those of you that dont know). LOL. note, this was an 18th birthday party. ROFL.] ANYWAY. so the three of us went out to city, went karaokeing, windowshopping, dinnered… and then it was around 8-something. well, i didnt want to get home too late because i had to walk home from the station. so one of us caught the bus, and the rest of us caught the train. now, my train ticket was a ‘return’ ticket to suburb X. i lived in suburb Y, which was FURTHER down the track, and therefore not covered by my train ticket. however, i couldnt be bothered to buy another single ticket to cover the distance from X to Y. if i had originally bought a return ticket from suburb Y, it wouldve been the same cost anyway. besides, there were no ticketbarriers at suburb Y station, so off i went with my friends, and caught the train. my friends got off at suburb X station. and then there was one, me.
now, im about one minute away from my station.
i hear an official-sounding male voice asking a passenger, “can we check your ticket, please?”
my heart literally drops down to my knees. i turn around.
yes. its a train-police-officer. checking tickets.
in that moment, i have visions of my life being ruined because of my jail record of not paying a train ticket. my tearful mother, my stern, disappointed father, and the FINE that they will issue me. NOOOooooOOOooOOooo.
my last hope: i walk up the stairs the next level in the trains, nonchantly. but alas.
theres already another officer there.
beaten, i pretend i was going to sit on the seat on that level, a step away from the door and freedom.
the SECOND officer finishes checking the ticket of the woman opposite me. i concoct stories in my head. im not even in school uniform, so i cant fob off that i had a late class because im a senior. what sort of school finishes at 9.30pm? then i think of saying that im coming back from a school excursion. no. thats stupid too.
“ma’am, can i see your ticket?”
so i show him my return ticket to suburb X. i take out my school pass that covers stations X to Y. before i can stammer “im a high school student…”
he returns the ticket.
the train doors open. i get up, expecting him to stop me. he doesnt. i walk out. and walk off.
i was FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

oh. i didnt realise it was such a long story. sorry. i should be banned from recounting my stories from this thread. SORRY!!

Haha sora I love you :D

hey guys

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/806842-chance-me-lacs.html

We aren’t massive “chancers” out here.

Hey Quasi, did you get that email about the St. Johns University’s “Personal Application?” No essay or rec required, and you get priority consideration for housing and financial aid. Oh, and a decision in two weeks.

GETDRUNK GETDRUNK GETDRUNK GETDRUNK GETDRUNK GETDRUNK

Sora you’re hilarious. And they were very nice about it. I think she was a little amused, but she understood. And she said she hoped I get better soon <3

Malik DON’T WORRY. My SAT is very close to yours, I have 1890. If you don’t need financial aid, there are plenty of colleges who will take you.

Gosh, I feel horrible today! Staying in bedddd yesssss.

Tetris, does that apply for all internationals or just Indians for SJU?

@tetris
I got an email with Personal App from St.Johns too. They’ve been sending it since the start of October. It’s sure tempting for me because I haven’t even started thinking about my essays! Do you think they send these a lot?

I’m also getting these kind of personal apps from other schools too.
