Class of 2018 Decisions

This has been gone over 100 times. There is something in the Gibson system that, when they are updating or whatever they are doing, it has these “blank-outs”. Don’t worry, it will resume soon. It means nothing about your personal decision.

Mine is like that they will probably deny me ): my test scores sucks. Ugg I am so dumb

Is your Gibson username/pw the same as the application username/pw? Or does Tulane send you a new one?

They send you a new one

And if you cannot find the one they sent, just hit “forgot username/password” and they will send you a new one.

Yes they do check your email very well though search for any emails from tulane just to make sure they didn’t send you one.

It’s crazy that December 15th is less than a month away! App has been submitted since Oct. 20th. At this point I’m glad to know that I’ll be receiving a decision within a month.

Sorry to double post: does anyone here know if counselors respond to emails on the weekend?

That would be a very individual thing. I know it is certainly possible they would look at their emails on the weekend, but no guarantees at all.

Accepted
Applied November 7th. Saw gibson on November 12th. How long does it take to recieve the hard copy/scholarship info?
ACT 32 (33 Superscored)

Has anyone in the Los Angeles area gotten decisions?

manse01 - 3-10 days seems to be the case.

roxy - yes.

Accepted! From Boston-- Got a Merit scholarship, 20K Annually. So excited!

Way to go, dartfrog!

Question to anyone who knows the answer…

If they were to deny/defer an applicant, will they notify the studebt as soon as they reach a decision or will they wait until closer to Dec 15?

In the past, they have generally waited until closer to the Dec. 15 date, IIRC.

FC I think I read on here earlier something you stated about asking for scholarship if the letter of acceptance does not come with letter and chances of success. Can you repeat? My d cannot use her test scores to help her picture. Any recommendations? We hate to crush her excitement with the reality of 60k per year and the inability to pay that much. Thanks and ideas from anyone else also welcome

Meant scholarship money not “letter”

FC - want me to take this? Sounds like deja vu all over again. Carb, check your PM

Sure Carb. To appeal for a merit award, you need to have something new that they did not see in the first place, and it has to be substantial. From what I hear you saying, it sounds like you are better off submitting the FAFSA and CSS forms required for consideration for need based aid. Don’t automatically assume that you don’t qualify. People are surprised all the time. Besides other than the time it takes to fill out these forms, maybe a few hours by the time you gather the data they need, what have you got to lose?

But, and just being realistic here, there are always cases where Tulane and similar private schools are just unaffordable. The only other thing I can think of right now is ROTC, but of course I have no idea if that is something she would consider.

Back to the merit award appeals, I remembered something after I wrote that previous post, which is that Jeff Schiffman had a blog post about this very subject about a year ago. In it he affirmed some of the things I was saying and added several more really good points. After all, he should know, being a Senior Associate Director of Admissions. Here is the link: [Tulane University Admission Blog - Jeff: Dear Tulane- Send $!](http://tuadmissionjeff.blogspot.com/2012/12/dear-tulane-send.html) I would pay very close attention to what he is saying. He is giving it to you straight.
