D received letter today awarding her the Founders Scholarship of $22,000 per year - very nice! Will still need to see the FA side before choosing.

Very good, picktails! Good luck with the rest of the process.

Congrats, dartfrog! Do you mind if I ask when you applied (and when your application was listed as complete)?

Thanks for that link FC, it was very informative and straightforward. We were nervous about our son getting accepted so the merit aid was a thrilling surprise. Now to see if we get financial aid.

Thank you FC. I read the blog and my daughter will still write her admissions counselor as it can’t hurt to try. I spoke with financial aid but could not get past the receptionist. She basically told me that I would not find out any financial aid information until april and to use the net price calculator as my guide. I will have to try a different approach to see if I can speak to someone and get more specifics. ROTC is out. We do have some money for school - just not 5 years worth of Tulane. She would be in the architecture program!

Yeah, the financial aid piece is a pain waiting for. But until you file your taxes and fill out the fafsa and css…it’s just a guessing game. I was going to try the net price calculator but I don’t feel like digging out my taxes from last year. Hoping we get need based aid, I hate for son to have to take out loans…I’m still paying off mine! Older son went to the school where I work so he went for free. But he’s paying for it in other ways.

WOO go Green Wave :)

Congratulations findingneema. But in what universe is a 3.78 UW GPA a weakness? Come on, lol.

congratulations, findingneema! nice work to get here. who knows, you might have more than one “accepted” notice, but that first one is awfully sweet.

Go2girl just received her first acceptance! I let out a scream when I saw it pop up on Gibson! What a relief! FYI, she applied on 11/5. This should be great motivation to get those additional scholarship applications completed.

I was just wondering how long it took for the letter to arrive in the mail after an admitted status was posted on Gibson?

Just got my acceptance!!

JsidMA - usually 3-10 days, and most often on the shorter side of that.

Roxy - Congrats!

Congrats to all those accepted! My D just submitted her app on 11/14, and everything was complete as of 11/19. Now the continual refreshing of Gibson begins! I’m sure Tulane was deluged with apps on the 14th and 15th so we are not expecting a decision right away.

From past years, do we know if Tulane issues admissions decisions during Thanksgiving week? Might be nice to step away from the computer if we don’t anticipate any announcements.

Thank you! Best of luck to those who haven’t heard back yet.

As best I can recall, if you don’t hear by that Wednesday evening (last day of classes is Tuesday but I would think staff works Wednesday, like most businesses) then you can stop checking until that next Monday evening. Obviously it doesn’t hurt to check at the end of the day on the weekend, but certainly no reason to check constantly.

I feel like kids from the Northeast/New England area are hearing back the quickest… maybe it’s just me but I feel like its a trend. I know some people in TX have heard back already but I’m still waiting. Can’t rush it though I guess!

Lol. Good advice FC. But Gigem86 if you have the will power to not check from Weds. night until Monday evening you have incredible discipline and are my new hero!

FC- is there a time frame to start thinking deferral?

submitted 10/1 - complete 10/25. 4 weeks tomorrow. UGH!

Only when they tell you. Last year there were a lot of people thinking like you that got accepted in December, and frankly a lot that got deferred. No tea leaves to read here, you just have to be patient. But, there are only about 25 days left to the deadline.

Does anyone know if RD applicants who applied early in the application year (October - S couldn’t do EA because doing SCEA elsewhere) had to wait until the end of March to hear last year, or whether notification was made earlier than that? Would be so nice to hear back early.
