Fantastic, Kenny.

D was accepted Saturday 11/16 (could have been Friday but she didn’t check past 3 or 4 pm) - received Distinguished Scholar and Honors Program letter today! Applied 11/1 but probably complete 11/4
SAT - 2150, 2180 superscore with 800 writing, 730 math, 650 CR
4.0 weighted GPA - unweighted ? but around 3.7
5 APs total - lots of Honors also
sports every season (3 sports every year for 4 years), community service ECs and leader and founder of cs club, 2 languages, yearbook editor, recs very good (one was sent to her by her teacher to read), visited Tulane.

Gibson is the SUREST FORM of torture I have ever come across.
It has been a month since my application was marked complete… searching for some remote reassurance… Morgan England gave me some, but it seems as though multiple Texans have received no answer?

My small capacity for patience is being tested, and it is all for the better.
Hopefully my wait won’t be for naught!

Have any Dallas applicants on here yet heard? I leave for New York Saturday morning to begin my Macy’s practices, and would love to be thankful for a Tulane acceptance. ;)

Blair, I feel your pain! We are in N. Cal, and I believe Morgan covers N. Cal and Texas. It seems like there have not been a lot of acceptances from those parts. I must admit though, Morgan gave the BEST college info night of any school we attended, so I’ll cut her a little slack! I think she convinced a lot of kids to apply to Tulane, so has lots of apps to read! My D is headed off to a Mission Trip for Thanksgiving week (and will be off the grid all week), so she would love to hear some news on Friday as well.

To get your mind off of it, tell us what your role is in the Macy’s parade -sounds exciting!

Realized I never added some info. D’s app was complete 9/21, accepted 10/31 with merit award letter arriving 11/4. 3.7 weighted GPA, 31 ACT. Tulane is high on her list.

Congrats NYMom, I see that your D is also looking at U Miami and I gave you some info on that board. My D1 is a junior at Tulane, she loves it and it is perfect for her. D2 is a freshman at Miami, so happy there! Both girls were interested in both Tulane and Miami, both are awesome schools! My husband are happy that we have two wonderful places to visit!

Mumof2 we went to look at UMiami and she loved it there too. She applied EA but they don’t notify until Feb. If she gets in it will be a difficult decision. You are lucky you have one at each! Lol. I am going to send you a PM when I have more time. Doing a marathon baking session for Thanksgivukkah today!

In the same situation as you Blair! Application has been complete for what feels like an eternity but no word back yet. I’m in Texas too, at this point I only check my Gibson every other day because I’m not expecting anything until closer to the deadline. I guess that way I can only be pleasantly surprised!

bromar, I’m impressed with your discipline! That will serve you well in life!

My D applied to both Tulane and UMiami as well as others of course. She’s not even checking Gibson. Says she can wait for the answer to come in the mail! How did a type A dad raise such a laid back D?

Other than LSU and maybe some other state schools, I bet there is no school that overlaps with Tulane for applications as much as U Miami. No way to prove it, but its a really good guess.

^^^I was just thinking the same thing. The two schools have an awful lot in common.

That is really interesting. UMIami was on my sons list as well, as was American. But he stopped filling out apps once he was accepted to Tulane since it was his first choice.

I used to see a lot more people mention American as well, not so much lately. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of overlap with them also. In fact, I am sure there is, but I would still bet Miami tops it by a substantial amount.

Interesting about overlaps so I had to go check our Naviance. No Miami, but Elon, Richmond, Charleston, Miami Oxford, Bucknell, Northeastern, BC, but when you go to Miami and look for overlaps, Tulane appears as the third highest.

Info includes six years of data so trends have changed during that time. More apps to Tulane than Miami, but more upswing in Miami #s. Obviously small sample size, but interesting nonetheless.

My D also applied to Elon, Coll of Charleston and URichmond as well.

CT1417, I didn’t even know Naviance had this function. Interesting. At D’s hs, by far the largest overlap is Strong Large State Uni to Which Almost Everyone Applies at 225, then UMich at 102, UMiami at 94, Chapel Hill 88, Emory 87, UVA 79, Vandy 76, Madison 71, Charleston 69, and WashU 68. Most of these numbers probably say more about the hs than about the colleges, but the College of Charleston number is surprising to me since I haven’t heard much chatter about it among my peers. Maybe d would know differently. Around here Tulane is known for its generosity first, then its academics, then its comprehensive large research and hospital status, then its NOLA-ness, then its southern approach to life, whatever it is people mean by that.

My d also applied to u of miami. My older daughter had done the same thing and they both have vastly different interests. It will be interesting to see what happens. My d would prefer Tulane but if money happens to come her way from miami we may have one in each

Just out of curiosity and friday afternoon boredom, I checked my d’s hs overlaps for American and every single school of the first ten was a school near American, starting with UMD again and then George Washington, not surprisingly. Does this bode poorly for American, do you think, or has it always been a DC rather than national choice?

okay, i’ll say it: where’s the mailman? ;+)
