I was just accepted!! I finished applying the 5th but it was marked complete the 18th! I was checking it basically every hour so I was very excited to find out! Can’t believe I got into Tulane!

congratulations, Majesstic14!

Just got accepted! I was really surprised because I didn’t submit my application til late on 11/14, and my counselor didn’t get his letter out until the 14th as well. Gibson said my application was incomplete (missing the counselor letter) up until last night. This morning I checked and it said it was complete and they would try to get my decision soon, and a half hour later I checked and I was accepted!

Wow congrats to everyone that’s been accepted the past few days!

jkeil–and my apologies for going off topic here…so, first, CONGRATS to all the admits this Friday afternoon–what great news to start the weekend!

I had to look up American after reading your post, and am wondering if you are in the immediate area as we had no local overlaps: Northeastern, U Conn, GW (oops, local), BU, Fordham, UVM, NYU, Loyola (local-ish), F&M, and Charleston.

I find the overlap feature fascinating. Clearly I need to get out more often.

Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted!

I never knew about the overlaps function on Naviance either! But I had seen the College Match for Tulane on Naviance. Of 31,524 applications analyzed, 22% also applied to Vanderbilt, 21% also to U Miami, 21% also to U Mich, 20% also to BC and 17% also applied to USC. Interesting stats.

MJMAMA–and I had never seen College Match. Learning something new here on the Tulane forum every hour. Out of desperation, I had tried “Super Match” once and Naviance spit out a school so far beyond my son’s GPA that I never looked at any of the menus running down the side of the screen.

That stats are fascinating for all of the schools my son is considering. It is tempting to add more to the ‘considering’ list just to see the matches, but best not to confuse the guidance dept at this late hour. Love the data, so thank you!

After frequently checking Gibson, I was accepted last night. I had a 32 on the ACT, a 3.725 UW GPA (my freshman year brought my GPA down and my counselor wrote about it in her rec), and did not write the “Why Tulane?” essay (oops). Soo excited

I certainly can’t vouch for this site’s accuracy, but thought that this might be relevant to some of the discussion above (Tulane and Miami):

[Compare Colleges: Side-by-side college comparisons | Parchment - College admissions predictions.](<a href=“Compare Colleges: Side-by-side college comparisons | Parchment - College admissions predictions.”>Compare Colleges: Side-by-side college comparisons | Parchment - College admissions predictions.)

ct1417, I hadn’t used overlap before, but now that I’ve had a chance to think about it it makes sense that a local school like American would have a lot of local competition for students in my d’s hs. So I looked up another local, George Washington U, and it too had a lot of local matches but it also had several non-local overlaps (PSU, BU, NYU). That might be expected too since GWU like Georgetown tends to be more of a national and international institution than AmericanU, at least as I understand them. I hope I haven’t stepped on any toes here.

My friend and I both got accepted Thursday night.
My stats: 95 uw GPA
35 ACT
720, 760, 770 subject tests

Hers:
97 uw GPA
2100 SAT
Similar subject test stats

I follow this thread bc my s is a recently accepted student at Tulane. Just checked our naviance and can’t find an overlap feature. Maybe I’m missing it. Does it have a particular name? Where is it on the naviance site?
We’re thrilled with his acceptance! It’s the first school he’s heard from and it came with a great scholarship award. Can’t beat that!

RM–It is down the side and is called Match. There is a Super Match feature, and that is not it. Once you hit match, scroll down to the bottom of the page and this national overlap feature will appear. (There is a lot of useless info at the top of the page.) The match feature must represent national data, as our Naviance quoted the same info as MjMaMa quoted above, but the Overlap figures are specific to your own HS. Match pulls the ‘colleges you are applying to/thinking about’ and provides the national overlaps, but ‘Overlap’ is specific to your HS and reports the # of apps for the time period your school has been using Naviance. I have no idea what reporting period ‘Match’ overlaps represent.

And, I have seen that different high schools have different features of Naviance.

Congrats to both lwilson (and the friend) and to RenaissanceMom and son. Great news. Just remember that the DHS and PTA applications are due by December 15.

I submitted my app 4 weeks ago now and I haven’t gotten anything and I’m getting worried, so I figured I would post my stats for opinions:
GPA: 3.74 UW (my school doesn’t weight)
7 APs total and 2 honors classes
sent in my 1st quarter grades because they were good
SAT 1950 (weakish)
good ECs (president of french club, varsity lacrosse, NHS, etc), can’t read my recs but I picked teachers who would write good ones
very detailed why tulane essay
thoughts?

From what you describe, your chances seem good. Strong GPA, challenging schedule, etc. SAT is under the average for Tulane, but still within the 25-50 percentile range. One never knows about admissions, so just be patient.

thank you! it’s just hard not to be anxious

Absolutely, it is hard. Good time to take up yoga.

My D was accepted on Friday! Haven’t posted until today as she doesn’t know (wants to wait for the fat envelope) and is now out of the country for the week -I didn’t want to jinx it! Here are her stats:

Applied 11/14, marked complete 11/19, Gibson updated 11/22.
GPA 3.9 uw, 4.0 w
4 AP classes, 1 honors, 4’s on AP tests
SAT 2040 superscore (640 C, 600 M, 800 W)
ACT 29 (E 34, M 26, R 32, S 25, E/W 31)
Admissions Counselor - Morgan England
Loads of EC’s with leadership positions, recs were very good (I think)
Attended info session, wrote Why Tulane essay

Thanks for all the advice on this board, especially fallenchemist. I can’t WAIT to visit NOLA with her and tour the campus!

I suspect her stats are not good enough for most scholarships, but I think she will try for Community Service Scholarship - that’s her passion anyway.

Best of luck to those applying!

Well, she will sure have nice news when she returns. Congrats and good luck with the CSS.
