Wagner ONLY offers a B.A. degree in Theatre…either the BA Performance or BA Theatre Studies.

Whatever…she’s doing the one she wasn’t rejected from. I can’t keep them all straight anymore.

Sounds like she has a great choice. Wagner has a solid reputation.

Well, it’s our only choice, but we’re not complaining…could be a lot worse.

EastchesterMom glad she is moving forward she sounds like she has a good head on her shoulders and a great mom. it is so hard sometimes being a parent. best wishes

It still sucks, believe me…but we’re making lemonade by the gallon here.

So glad to hear this, EastchesterMom! Often, things don’t turn out the way we want them to, but have a way of working out in the end.

The kids are far more resilient than we are - your D sounds like a great kid, and things will definitely work out for her in the end.

Feeling super stressed and anxious right now. This has been quite a roller coaster these past few weeks. Cant wait until this part is over!!!

@NewYorkSon…soon enough and before you know it ort kids will be out of college looking for jobs and the real fun begins :)

I know i am not wishing the time away . It’s just so hard waiting to hear. I know we’re in the home stretch only a few weeks then we should know

Ok, so not trying to put the cart before the horse…but I’ve bookmarked a couple of threads for First Time College Parents - What to Bring and one of the most recent posts talked about a “Slingbox”. I researched it and it’s this device that will allow the boy to watch our Direct TV (any cable really) programs and recorded shows on his laptop…even from far, far away. The only downside is it looks like if he’s watching, he takes over control; so we would have to synch him up to the rarely used basement receiver. Really Cool piece of technology!!! (little pricey ~$300). Thought I’d share.

Guess what? D got into AMDA MT. Am surprised beyond words. Now there is a choice; and D’s confidence is making a slow comeback.

So happy happy happy for you @eastchesterMom!!! Looks like bisouu’s kid will be the only one who gets in nowhere! :)

Oh yes, we’re happy, but AMDA isn’t college; it’s a 2-year certificate program. If you want to get the BFA, you have to attend their LA campus, and they admitted that even that isn’t exactly academic. D’s dad isn’t sharing the joy, particularly since Wagner gave mucho bucks in financial aid. This is the same dad who dumped on Ithaca!!! But whatever happens, I love seeing D smile!!!

@EastchesterMom----YAY!!! I’m soooo happy for you and your daughter!! A friend’s daughter loves AMDA

We live an hour away from the AMDA LA campus and D has a friend in the BFA program there. She is thriving there and loves the program. I do know that it is very expensive though!

Congrats to EastchesterMom and no Bisouu, you’re not alone - my kid didn’t get accepted to any BFA programs either.

She does have some good BA options to choose from, but she won’t make a choice for another few weeks until after:
- School musical this week
- Performing excerpts from their fall play at state International Thespian Society the following weekend
- Making a visit to one school (the leading contender I think) where haven’t visited yet other than being there for the audition (they were not doing school visits that day).

So the wait continues, just in a different way.

My D also didn’t get into any BFA programs, but she chose her college list with it already in her mind that she preferred a BA program. It took her until mid-January to figure out exactly what she was looking for in a college, though, even with all of the research and visits. Just wish her great revelation had come a couple of months earlier cuz now there are only two schools she applied to that she really wants to attend - her #1 choice could potentially be too much $ and her #2 choice is a reach. I can feel my hair greying as I type. I need these academic and FA letters to get her NOW!!

Glad you D is feeling better eastchestermom!!

I’m glad I’m not so alone on the financial side. We have always been sort of the “poor” people in our circle of performing arts friends. If my S didn’t get the work study he has at his current performing arts school he wouldn’t be the dancer/singer he is today, he owes that school everything. Life just didn’t work out in that way for us. I will thoroughly encourage next years parents and students to heavily research the financial aspect and not make the mistakes I did.
