We know several people who are at IU or have graduated. One young woman from S’s HS, graduated a few years ago and is doing very well in NYC. We really liked that program. and if our money situation had been different, S might be there now.
@Dadagogo - It was the short list email that came out when they sent all decisions. In addition to loving the theater staff - Indiana would take all of her AP classes which would make it easier for her to minor in something. Best of Luck
Anyone here that has had a chance to visit Montclair and sit in on MT classes? Any thoughts/opinions about the program? ?
We visited Montclair, fell in love with it. My son is going back next month to sit in on a day of classes, but I suspect that will only confirm his already very positive impression. PM me if you’d like details of our visit.
A kid from my D’s HS chose Indiana last year over 4-5 other BFA acceptances. I ran into him over his spring break a week or so ago- he was raving bout how much he loves IU
In the end, it’s all about finding what is the right fit for your child artistically and academically and financially for the family. Best wishes to all still waiting for decisions and/or trying to figure which of your offers are the best match all around. You are turning the corner towards the finish line. Hang in there!
@sleepymom A 2015 Indiana BFA MT grad made her Broadway debut this past month in Bright Star. I believe she was cast last summer immediately following graduation.
Thanks for the input on Indiana- We just got a great vibe there and are hoping the short list is used. D was just cast in a local show and master class with S. Schwartz ( if my spelling of that is wrong- please forgive)! Hoping this helps in some way! Also, Husband works for Penn STate and we may get some tuition help with any Big 10 school! Of course, D did not audition for Penn STate - not that she would have gotten in for sure- but we have had 70% tuition paid- ugh
@Dadagogo @sleepymom I didn’t realize that there is a waitlist and a short list for IU. What’s the difference?
@ChistinaCollege - I am NOT an expert here, but best I can gather, Indiana issued short list letters following the auditions in November. In February they called some accepted students (from both the November and February auditions) shortly after the final auditions concluded Feb 20th. I did see some folks post that auditioned in February received a short list letter a short time after the February auditions. No expert and very small sample of data, but would be curious if 1. There are also waitlist letters? and 2.Have there been rejections?
Indiana was a real eye opener for our team. Really were blown away by the campus, quality of the faculty, and how impressed we were by the kids. Their process was also at the top of our list of experiences. Would love the opportunity to send my child there. Message really resonated, they are a newer program, but they have all the quality of the best programs in the nation.
@ChristinaCollege - I don’t know that there is - I just called it a waitlist… But in the letter it says “short list”
My D auditioned the very last day of their auditions and heard about the short list within a week via email if that helps
Anyone still waiting on Hartt?
Nothing from BoCo yet?
Any news on Western Michigan? Crickets out there!
And my guess is the Carnegie calls will start tomorrow…
Carnegie makes no calls untill the portals change which will be Friday midnight. Calls will come either this weekend or Monday.
@mtmamma2020 We did get an email in our “other” box today from CMU that said “We’ll be revealing freshman admission decisions online on Saturday, March 26th. All freshman applicants will be able to view their decision letter on Where Am I in the Process.”
Thanks @Autmlvs615 we got the same email. I would have thought the calls came before the emails? But I am not knowledgeable and I trust @MTDadandProud
If you go back through the 2015 call thread, a few kids got their letters Thursday (they were mailed on a Wednesday last year just like this year), acting calls were made on Thursday night, some got letters Friday and it looks like the MT calls were made after the portal change on the weekend (which occurrd at midnight as Friday crosses into Saturday - I presume midnight eastern). So depends on where you live in relation to Pittsburgh and what you auditioned for as to when and how you find out - going by last year’s info. Which they may not decide to follow this year.
