^^^ absolutely where ever you end up be thankful, positive and go in happy full force ready to learn and grow. should of, could of , would of is a waste of energy and drains your mind.
@lookingforarolemodel … my oldest daughter is at Vanderbilt. And if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 1000 times - getting into Vanderbilt was a piece of cake compared to her younger sister being accepted into a BFA program. It’s insane how intense the process is.
Everyone else … hang in there!!
@theaterwork I think you should audition. If they’re auditioning they are looking. They are or have already built a new performing arts space so perhaps they are looking to field a bigger class. Here’s a heads up. I don’t think they have really good signage. We drove all over the place trying to figure out where to go. There’s a parking garage. Park there and walk to wherever the audition might be. Another thing you can’t guess what they are looking for. If you don’t audition you would never know if you could be accepted.
We live in a top school district all my D friends are getting into top universities across the country! We have been lucky so far 7 BFA MT Acceptances and 4 no’s ! My daughter is narrowing it down to the best offer a top ten contender and her friends are like hmmm yah that’s a ok school ! To us it’s like Harvard in the MT world go figure! @Ducky312 I hear you loud and clear!!!
I would like to put a reminder out there to those people (and those who do not actively post on this forum but read it…you know who you are lol) …
If your child has multiple acceptances and they involve schools with waitlists, please release yourself from schools you know that you are not going to accept their offer. I think this is VERY important. Now of course I know there will be schools that you will not be able to do this much earlier then may 1 because of re visiting etc. but even my D who has 4 acceptances ( 2 of which are at schools which probably do not have a waitlist) has already notified one that she is not going to be accepting their offer.
I feel this is very important to think of others on waitlists especially since this is such an 11th hour process for many.
I agree with @theaterwork - if it’s a No for your student, have them notify the school so that the school can go to their waiting list. All decisions are supposed to be final by May 1st. My daughter got a call from the one waitlist school in mid-May - but we had already committed to another school by then. I also agree with @lincoln56 - my daughter now attends Oklahoma City University - no one has heard of it - unless you are in the business … but that’s what is most important!
Totally agree, @theaterwork. My D is notifying 2 BFA MT schools today that she won’t be attending. One, for sure, has a waitlist; and the other offered her full tuition (mostly academic-but they made up the gap on the artistic side.) So hopefully that will create a coveted spot, and/or $$, for others.
Thanks to @owensfolks, @lincoln56 and all that are letting schools know asap that they are not attending! This mom of a D on 5 waitlists is very grateful and hopeful!
5 waitlists, @momadrama -WOW! I feel certain your D will get some good news soon!
I have told 6 of 8 schools I’m not attending. Fingers crossed for all of you on waitlists!!
@EIS0301 I know you have some great options. Which two schools are you still considering?
Looking for info about Temple University Musical Theatre track acceptances: How were you notified of acceptance? Did anyone audition for both MT and Acting track? If so, did you hear separate decisions?
Today, my D received acceptance for Acting via email from James Short, Assist. Dean of Recruitment. So I don’t know if that means MT is out of the picture, or if those decision come separately from someone else.
(edited) P.S. And do they do a Wait List?
That’s awesome @EIS0301
Best of luck to you on where you end up going!
@daughtersdreams My daughter was notified through a letter of her MT acceptance from the theater dept.at Temple on March 3. This was followed by an update to her portal and then an official letter of acceptance to the university on March 7. I’m not sure about a wait list.
Also to everyone above @japbmom @owensfolks @EIS0301 …and this is probably a really stupid question…but HOW do you notify a school or program that you will not be attending. My D and I have not been able to figure that out and have looked through web sites and acceptance letters. Sorry…feeling dumb
@daughtersdreams we were notified by snail mail first and then her portal was updated, and finally she received an email. It was a little confusing. We do know of three or four kids on a waitlist, so they do have one.
It’s great that you have choices @EIS0301!
Finally a piece of mail. A rejection from Webster…three more answers and we can move on with our lives… Who said yesterday that St Louis has terrible traffic and is really humid in the summer? That makes me feel better. We won’t be missing that.
Received an email from Carnegie Mellon that said portals will be updated on Sunday March 26th with admission decisions
Heart just skipped a beat, email from CMU. Never mind…it’s from admissions department. Apparently all decisions will be posted on portal Sunday, March 26th. Lots of rumors regarding if calls have been finalized, started, ended etc but I guess we will all know soon enough. That must be some warm & fuzzy audition for so many to hold out hope for so long!
@jhayes000 we actually notified the school by email to the theater dept , specifically to either head of the mt dept or perhaps the person who sent the letter of acceptance? If your child had direct contact with a specific faculty member I would notify that person as a courtesy.
We also sent a separate email to the general admissions dept about her not planning on attending in general or for another major. Also we already had one school send a letter of “intention” as to whether you wanted to attend in another major and you just checked “no” and mailed it back.
Ugh! How is this possible…NO MAIL again!!! I literally get angry at my mailbox when there’s NOTHING in there! We’re not hopeful for Webster at this point, but would just like to be put out of our misery.
