Does anyone know how long Pace’s acting auditions last? Do you need the whole 1:30-5:30. They said in email you do monologues and assigned scene partner then if you get call back that would be movement.
@kaf011 We were there Saturday and the answer to your question is you HOPE it takes that long! The initial audition will probably be done by 3:30 (depending on the audition group you’re in - they divide them up in groups of 10 or so). After each group, a list is posted of the kids that need to stay for the 4:30 movement session. If you aren’t on the list, then you are done and can leave. This also means that you are no longer being considered for the program.
Also, if your child is auditioning for more than one program, then it definitely will take all day.
Hope this helps.
@myloves Ok, At the risk of sounding stupid, what is Singer’s Spray?
@daughtersdreams Thanks! it did help. She was trying to decide if she should book any walk-ins but will HOPE and PRAY it takes the whole time. She was already accepted academically with scholarship. Sounds like yours went well on Saturday?
@kaf011 By the way, if you’re unfamiliar with area, the entrance to the auditions is on Fulton Street. It’s 96 Fulton Street - there is a door with this number over it, but no signs to indicate that it’s Pace.
How were you notified of acceptance and scholarship? We have had everything submitted since Dec. 12 but have not gotten anything from them except an email saying the application is complete. Did they mail you or email you the acceptance?
@daughtersdreams I believe Pace is at Chicago Unifieds right now. Usually they have a quick academic acceptance turn around. My D got hers back in December I believe.

@daughtersdreams Packet in the mail with acceptance into declaring any major in the arts and science if the BFA doesn’t work out. I thought she was out regardless if she didn’t make it. But if she doesn’t get into BFA doubtful she would go there. Yes they are in Chicago 3rd floor Palmer House
@momtojoss, good question! There are sprays specifically for singers like:
"Singer’s Saving Grace Throat Spray - Singer’s Saving Grace® Ideal for sore throats. Promotes voice clarity and vocal comfort. Moistens and lubricates throat tissues. Soothes feeling of throat dryness. A blessing for anyone with a sore throat from singing, screaming, cheering, shouting or talking loudly for a long period of time.*
Ingredients: Yerba Mansa root, fresh Stoneroot root, Licorice root, Jack-in-the-pulpit root, Propolis gum, Echinacea angustifolia root and Ginger root. (Osha root found in Extra Strength Original and Professional Strength only)."
While this doesn’t mention throat issues from sickness, it’s what my D’s voice teachers have suggested before for this reason.
There are other brands. This is just what my D has.
One more thing they said to avoid: loud restaurants, etc. The tendency people have is to use their voices more or to whisper in other’s ears, neither of which are good for vocal chords.
@VoiceTeacher I just realized that the person who sent the sarcastic email from Penn State was actually the head of the BFA in Design & Technology not the admissions officer!
Also for people with colds…Zicam! It almost always shortens our colds by several days but you must take it very frequently like every few hours I think.
@myloves thanks cor the info!
I contacted Montclair State. I was rejected for MT but I am on the waitlist for Acting. Yay!
Congrats @WhiteRaven1
I just figured out that there are TWO difference threads here with similar names and that is why I’ve been so confused when trying to follow posts and reply to posts. Here are names of the two threads:
Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)
Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)
Can these be combined? Or Renamed to something LESS confusing?
Wait! Now I see the difference . . . . (sharing, venting, etc.) is in the Musical Theatre forum. The other one is Drama/Theatre. Still confusing, but at least I get it now.
I can totally relate to you say “I believe I was rejected” in reference to Montclair. There is nothing more I hate than a less than candid response. My D got the same letter in the mail, praising her acceptance, which thank you, we’ve known since November, but with the sneaky sentence that the college of the arts let “us” know that you did not get accepted to your first choice. Frankly, I want it straightforward…NO to BFA MT. That’s me…LOL. Anyway, after having to send emails and call, someone finally had the sense to just say it. Jeez…kind of irritated me. A little disappointed as my oldest went there…but onward and upward. So there is no REAL rejection letter if anyone else is interested. Although, maybe if my D had not been accepted to the school, she would have gotten a more candid rejection. Onward and upward…but still disappointed.
@missnypizza and @WhiteRaven1 - Did the Montclair letter come in the mail or in an email? Did you audition at unifieds?
I wish there was an ideal way to notify students about rejections. They wait so long and they are so hopeful. I am sorry about the rejection but onward and upward as you say!
@4dramadogs They sent another large envelope with a college brochure and letter…they type you get with a college acceptance package…and I thought it so like I said because I already received the same type back in November when she was academically accepted. So the process is the college of the arts let college admissions know about acceptance (or rejection) and then the admissions department takes over. I first emailed the college of the arts and they specifically said they do not share information as to rejections or acceptances. They all come through regular college admissions. But I did positively confirm today with admissions (Zac) that my D was not accepted. This is the first blow of the season. Yes, we did audition at NYC unifieds. I wish you the BAL…hope you get better news. I guess we have to stay positive for the rest. Thanks:)
