Class of 2023 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

My D was accepted to CCPA todayfor acting which I find odd - since her vocal and dance abilities are better. She screamed with joy. She is also accepted to Ohio U for MT- acting.

We have 3 waitlists too and a handful still out there. I wish my eye would stop twitching. This is really hard. She was rejected from Emerson, Fordham and Point Park this week too.

D accepted to Wagner today via snail mail-big envelope-with a really nice scholarship! Nice to end the week on a high note after a string of rejections.Thank you all for your support, encouragement humor, and information this week, and hoping for some great yeses for all next week!

@tatteredandfriendly, I agree 100%. This path is for kids who simply can’t envision themselves anywhere else. Once I realized that was where we were, every other decision became easier. Good post.

No from Elon but D had a great audition at Western MI today so now we wait! 8 more to hear from! ??? Congrats on all the yeses today! Hoping the luck ? will be on all our students this next week!

Oh and Western MI said they would be notifying in 3-4 days! Sometimes it pays to audition at the last audition lol…less waiting time! Not sure how they notify though.

USC posted official release timeline later today:

ā€œAdmission decisions will be mailed on March 21. Decisions will be available online March 24 in the USC Applicant Portal.ā€

Time of portal release not specified.

Thank you @CaMom13 and @boola boola! Yes, I advise everyone waiting on acceptances to just post a question here 5 times in a row. Seems to do the trick ?

On a more serious note, I join the others in praying for your kids who have yet to receive a yes. Please don’t lose heart! It can come at any moment!

@mammameuh Congrats! Are you geographically close to Wagner?

My D received a large envelope yesterday from Ball State with a big YES on the front and a congratulations letter, an d under ā€œIntended Majorā€ it lists Theatre (Musical Theatre). So I ask: Is that MT acceptance? That was a walk-in and one of her best auditions and so we celebrated last night thinking that’s what it means. I don’t see any info in the thread or on the list indicating that they notify academic and MT at the same time, but we have long since been notified on all of her academic acceptances that notify separately.

Any Ball State students or parents out there who can share their experience. Thanks in advance… signed dazed and confused :-@

@BWmama, my D was accepted to Ball State academically but redirected to BA artistically but her portal still shows accepted and program as BFA MT, so I wouldn’t read in to anything until you get official word. . . and even then, it still looks like you’re in! #-o

@BWmama I really hope that is a yes for you, you may want to send a message to auditions@BSU.edu. My understanding was that they were calling the yeses and the waitlist, but I do not have inside info and can be wrong, or maybe your daughter missed a call from them.

@CaMom13 and everyone else who chimed in on the prayer chain! I really appreciate all the support!

Yesterday when I was on CC my D was auditioning at her ā€œsortaā€ safety (scholarship audition, occasionally redirects) and she got her first acceptance! So it worked! She has a couple of decisions remaining that she’s really hoping for a yes and a waitlist she REALLY wants off. So keep the prayers and songs coming!

To everyone who hasn’t heard…fingers and toes crossed. I know how hard it is to watch your kid get rejection after rejection. But I am also amazed at how resilient they are! My D has grown leaps and bounds through this process and I am so proud of who she is. All the days I fell short as a parent and I must have done something right!

Now as long as I don’t have to join the kickline…might throw something out…I will grab my top hat and join in the singing…One… singular sensation…(be very glad you can’t hear me)

@MTBackstagemom Was the academic acceptance sent separate from the artistic acceptance or redirect? And maybe a redirect would be sent separately because it’s a redirect…so my Q is how do you know what the ā€œofficialā€ word is? It’s so damn confusing.

@NoMTinMD I will have my D follow up. I read somewhere that they started notifying within the last few days and then we received this envelope. There’s gotta be a better way.

@BWmama My S received the same. Big YES envelope with lots of materials inside. BUT in tiny gray letters on ā€œYour Admission Summaryā€ page is a note that says ā€œAdmission to the university does not guarantee admission to a particular major or program.ā€ He’s a No.

@ammasyd Thanks for the info. I will take a look. How do you know that it’s a ā€œnoā€ for him? Were you notified in some other manner about the ā€œnoā€?

@BWmama I think his portal was updated shortly after he got the YES envelope

Yay @MTSongbirdMom !!! So happy for her!

I’m reminded of this waiting process last year. Thought there would be a big, in your face, this-is-it moment. Even bought a lovely sparking wine ready for the festive occasion. However, it never happened that way. With the exhaustion, the trickling in and bewilderment of notifications, and competing high school senior year activities, that bottle of bubbly just sat there. As the final decision narrowed the mood was more gravitas than frivolity. When my D did make a decision I sensed an overwhelming feeling of relief, not really the elation I was anticipating. I let that sit for a while then we popped the cork one random evening and gave joy permission to be free. Suppose we were confusing the process with winning something. There was so much more to celebrate than an acceptance. And, quite frankly, I’m still a little hung over from that whole year. It was remarkable.

@BWmama, my D’s BFA acceptance was separate from academic. She applied in the fall and got the big yes packet in the mail before she auditioned in Feb. Her BFA acceptance came by phone call late last month, followed by an email sent two weeks later by Andrea Sadler. D’s friend got her BA redirect by email as well. I absolutely hate how confusing this process can be. I really hope it’s good news for you and your D.

@PaperTrope - I love the champagne story. I think many of us are hung over from last year. The anxiety and the joy, the bewilderment and the hurt all get mixed together and afterwards you think ā€œwhat was That all about?ā€. The reward for most of us is having our children in educational programs where they are truly challenged and growing as artists. But the process to get them there is still something that’s hard to accept… but acceptance needs to happen so we can all ā€œlet it goā€.
