@MTDramaMama1 not even remotely close! ?
Snail mail ānoā from Pace today. 7 more to hear from - next week will probably be busy.
Same here. Snail mail no from Pace.
Also No from Pace MT.
Any more word from Elon - D did not get the ānoā email yesterday but has not gotten a phone call either?
@MTSongbirdMom <:-P . So happy for your D. Thanks for sharing your story
@BWmama re: Ball State - My D was admitted in the fall academically (the big YES envelope) and then got the redirect in a snail mail in late Feb. The portal has NOT changed so would appear to be accepted and BFA MT, but definitely got the redirect!
on My Slice they give the acceptances? I had heard it would be in emailā¦can you tell me where to look in the My Sliceā¦I cant seem to find anything on these portals
My S got a no from Pace yesterday via snail mail. Itās his number 1, so it hit hard, even though he expected to get a no at this point. He was accepted academically and got a really good scholarship package, so heās considering attending as an undeclared and trying again next year. He got accepted at AMDA and weāre still waiting on MSM and he has an audition at Kean on April 24, so there are still options for him.
@sedaley - My daughters audition year, Pace specifically told the students in their meeting that if they received a no for the BFA, and they wanted to try again, it would likely still be a no on a future attemptā¦sorry to throw that at you- but thought you might want to know.
@sedaley I think @stagedoormama has a good point. When we toured Pace last year, a student asked the question about re-auditioning. The student tour guide highly recommended going to a program you get into.
I agree with prioritizing a program you get into, but I think it might be possible at Pace. Our tour guide was a guy who didnāt get into the BA IPE program the first try, but re-auditioned after a year and got in. Iād imagine it would be much harder for MT however.
My oldest was rejected from Pace in 2017, and was accepted in 2018, as was someone else in her class. It can be done.
Taking a gap year and re-auditioning for a program is not quite the same as enrolling in the college and re-auditioning for the program. In the first scenario, more options abound. In the second scenario, the student, if not accepted into the BFA on the second try, is attending a school where they cannot study MT, unless they transfer.
The other person who was accepted to Pace the second time around enrolled at the school as a freshman undeclared major, and then reauditioned in the spring and was accepted as an MT major. I know itās rare, but again, it can happen.
If not happy with the current options taking a gap year could be a wonderful thing- you preserve your freshman status (provided no college classes taken), which means more scholarship/fin aid consideration, and you can cast a much wider net for schools. There are many success stories for a gap year with kids growing in their training. Itās not for everyone of course but worth considering. Also at this age they can change their mind about what later can become a #1 school.
We had a friend, boy, who put all his eggs in the Pace basket last year. Fell in love and would not look at anything else (letās face it, theyāre marketing machine is outstanding). But, didnāt get into the program. Went anyway. Dropped out after one semester. Think hard about not considering schools that did want you.
I just feel so awful, because his nerves got in the way at his audition and he messed up his song and didnāt really get to show them at his best. So I understand why he wants to try again. But at the same time, I donāt want him to lose a year of training taking GE courses just to have the same result, and try to transfer somewhere as a sophomore.
There are soooo many great schools out there. @sedaley I get it. The dream school notion gets in their heads and itās hard to watch them be heartbroken. I say just be open to options
My D still hasnāt heard anything from Pace. I will be prepared for the no tomorrow. Has anyone heard anything but a no via snail mail?
