Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I did discuss the possibility of a gap year with him today. I’m not sure what we’re going to do yet. I guess we’ll wait and see what other results come in before we decide.
Doesn’t seem to be one that is much on the radar, but S got a no from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland - e-mail told him to check the CAS portal on the 15th.
Right, I’m trying to get him to look at the other programs and consider those. He liked them well enough to audition, but then got blinders on once he visited the school and fell in love.
@sedaley If he wants to be in NYC area, LIU Post still has auditions March 22 and April 7. My D really enjoyed her visit there and meeting with the faculty and students.
Thanks @afterp89, I’ll have him take a look at LIU.
The best thing about May 1st will be the end of non artistic college marketing mail and emails.
@sedaley call Cap 21/Malloy too and see if can send in video audition or auditions left if want to be in NYC Area. I know they have extended BFA MT offers that others will not be taking so there could be movement & openings there possibilily. So much great Buzz about this program which has history with NYU. https://www.molloy.edu/academics/undergraduate-programs/molloy-cap21-theatre-arts-program/audition-dates
Thanks @Kkrazie, I’ll check it out!
@tatteredandfriendly
Sorry for the RCS “no”. My kid is on “reserve” there, so waitlist.
Sorry for the Pace “no’s”, we will keep watching the mail expecting the same. At least we’ll hear something other than radio silence. My D enjoyed the Pace people at Chicago unifieds; except they were running way behind that afternoon and rushing to the airport or something, so they told the afternoon kids they’d be only hearing songs and not monologues that day, so she really didn’t feel she had a chance to show herself.
Something else to consider Re getting a Pace “no” …if you enroll for the first year as undecided and try to audition the following year…even if you are accepted at that point, you’re a year behind and could potentially be looking at a 5th year of tuition. A lot of scholarships will not extend to the 5th year. So if that’s a route you’re interested in, I’d confirm what I’ve said is correct and be prepared to pay full tuition for the 5th year.
My concern about Pace is that just about everyone gets in academically. So if you’re rejected from the BFA you don’t know if you were an “almost in” BFA candidate or a “no way” BFA candidate. The fact that the student loves a program doesn’t mean anything when it comes to evaluating their chances as a transfer. If the student was waitlisted for a BFA I could see taking the chance of going there undeclared if none of the other options are attractive. But it seems pretty risky to put your training on the line for a “dream” that truly might not come through. Love the schools that love you.
Hey guys I know this is a longshot but does anyone know about notifications for a DP at CMU?
@123jsy Hi! I just saw this. My D is a Sophomore in Syracuse - MT. Please let me know if you need anything, go ahead and PM if need to. I am going to start checking daily.
@Kkrazie I’m just curious what information you have about Molloy. My D is waitlisted.
@BWmama I know a boy with multiple MT offers will likely decline his Cap 21/Malloy offer to go elsewhere. He hasn’t released any spots been offered yet. This is why waitlist movement can come to last week of April or beyond. Technically folks don’t have to tell schools till May 1st which makes it so nail-biting for folks on waitlists. So if on a waitlist let schools know your interested and that you would except an offer if granted one. Schools can’t always gauge students level of interest either. It’s a two way street. Hopefully folks with multiple offers will decide sooner rather than later so waitlists move. But many times folks do additional campus visits or are waiting for financial aide and it holds up the movement on waitlists. Prayers over all. It’s a complicated system right up till May 1st. I know how anxious everyone is for answers. But many will be waiting longer than others. It’s just part of the whole process unfortunately. So have Plan Bs in place & try to withhold deposits till last minute so if you come off waitlist you can shift gears.
@tatteredandfriendly where did your S audition? Was he previously reserve? Sorry on the news RCS is my D’s top choice.
D just got an email notification for WL at Western Michigan.
@BWmama @Kkrazie My son has released 4 schools, and will be releasing another 3 tomorrow. I hope this helps some others get earlier news. Best of luck to everyone who’s waiting!
@typhanileigh My D just got the same email from Western MI as well! Ugh that’s 3 WL now! They said it was a small list. I wonder how many and how active it really is?
So happy for your S that he has has all those schools to release @“boola boola” ! Has he made a decision or is he still waiting for more news?
