Class of 2023 MT Artistic Acceptance Notifications: How/When/Where

@NYDreammom - around 12:30pm. :wink:

@vvnstar yes that’s my point. I just referred to BFA MT because that’s what this generation going thru this process knows. Yes BA in Music is the way they did MT for years at OKCU. I’m very aware of the variances. I was just trying to simplify terminology for best understanding as BFA MT is today’s moniker most used. Also for those considering OKCU if dance is your strong suit OKCU was recently ranked better than Julliard. But it’s a tiny campus so that’s a trade off for some wanting a true college experience. But it’s a great fit for many with passions in Fine Arts.

I’m not trying to belabor the point. just want to make sure people know there is a BA degree in music offered at OCU which is not the same degree as the Bachelor of Music (BM) MT degree. The BA degree is sometimes offered as a redirect during the audition process. The BA is a fine program, but it is not performance oriented. So just make sure you look at the curriculum to make sure you know to which program you’ve been accepted and that it’s a degree program you’ll be happy with.

@azmtmom13 good luck with the NYU decision and please share your thoughts on Utah after your visit! We are heading out there next month. So far I like what I have seen online and heard in the info session at Unifieds.

High hopes for everyone waiting on NYU!!! Today is the day, finally.

Did anyone get anything in the mail from Webster today? My D received an envelope, but it’s from admissions not theatre, and it has a reply envelope in it, SO I CAN’T READ IT when I hold it to a light! Uggh. Someone, just tell me what’s inside, please.

@El-Cee will do! and thanks

@Tulsa-Mom -Our mail comes around 2pm central, so I’ll let you know. We are waiting to hear from Webster too!

We are waiting on Webster, too. I can see thru the usps Informed Delivery service that there is a thin envelope from Webster arriving today. D was already academically accepted with the thick envelopes months ago however a thin envelope is not encouraging :slightly_frowning_face: Fingers crossed for good results for all!

Per twitter - NYU will be rolling out today between 4-6 pm est

@Tulsa-Mom my USPS informed delivery shows a letter from Webster as well. I won’t see it for hours as we are west coast and mail comes at 4pm!

My D got the same letter from Webster. Won’t know what it contains until tonight. Guessing it’s not good news.

@TheatreMomKatie Thin envelopes after acceptance BIG envelope can be a good thing. It doesn’t take much paper for a department head to say “Congrats, you are accepted to Musical Theater
” Keep the faith.

Unfortunately, our Webster small envelope yesterday was a No with a reply letter because she needed to pick a different major
sigh. Hoping you guys have better luck.

Aww, I’m sorry @mtmom3girls - that stinks. I could see a reply envelope inside, too so it’s prob the same fate. Thank you for your kind wishes ?

@Kkrazie My understanding, based on conversations with two national consultants, is that OKCU is not the place to go if you are looking for strong dance training. While the School of Dance is no doubt a great program, students in the MT BM program do not take any dance until their third year. OKCU’s musical theatre program is heavily weighted toward vocal performance.

My daughter’s NYU decision is on the portal. Her last “No”

NYU portal updated before we got email

The thin envelope from Webster was indeed a no :slightly_frowning_face:

So sorry @TheatreMomKatie. But it looks like your D has some exciting offers in the acting track. I hope she finds that place that she will love! There’s been a lot already written about this, but so many acting majors end up in MT. If she follows her passion, those doors will open!
