D got a no from NYU. However, we can now close the door on this lengthy and stressful process! She is absolutely thrilled to be going to Webster. Her one and only yes, and it doesn’t matter because they chose her! We have told her to have faith and that she will end up where she belongs. To everyone on this board… thanks for the support. Knowing that our kids are getting into this tough industry and will hear “no” over and over again, this process was a real awakening. Our kids will all make it, no matter what track they choose or what school they attend. They are all amazingly talented and will find their perfect spot. Cheers to all of you!
@AGMomma Well said!
@AGMomma great post! Good luck to your D! That was it for us today too (and a no). Glad we can finally move forward, Thrilled my S has now committed to BW. To everyone else still waiting. We are waiting with you xo
Thank you so much @“boola boola” and @AGMomma! You are so right that we have to have faith and things will turn out ok. Grateful that my D has lots of great options - now comes the decision making ???
Even tho I only found this board a week or so ago and don’t know any of you irl, I’m so happy for everyone’s yeses and praying that everyone comes out the other end of this truly crazy journey with some good options!
So glad that your D got a yes @AGMomma - what a relief!!
No from NYU, sad but I’ve accepted the rejection and ready to move on. I’m still waiting on 3 colleges, Montclair State University, Oakland University, and I have an audition for Fairleigh Dickinson University in the beginning of April. Plus, I already have 2 yes’s… We will all end up where we are meant to be.
No from NYU as well. Still waiting on UWSP. We’ve got 2 yeses and 1 WL which we are feeling very thankful for.
Anyone else not hear from Rider yet?
Does anyone know when BoCo will give results? Waiting for that and Manhattan School of Music
@32barMom om We are waiting for those 2 also. I think they say “by April 1”. I’m hopefully it will be tomorrow afternoon though, since I feel like schools like to announce later in the week and not on a Monday.
@“boola boola” Unless something has drastically changed in the last year or two, that is totally incorrect about dance at OCU. My daughter had dance every semester she attended for all 4 years at OCU. Sometimes two classes. You are leveled every semester and placed in classes appropriate to your level whether your are a level 1 beginner or level 10 advanced. There are 10 different levels in each discipline. Dance majors do get first dibs on dance classes, so if you are leveling into classes with dance majors, there is a possibility you might not get a class you want because it has been completely filled with dance majors. But that would be the only reason you would not get a dance class. It is true there is a strong emphasis on voice as it is a bachelor of music degree, but it is a complete and well rounded degree. Their acting classes are with the BFA acting majors in the school of theater and their dance classes are with the dance majors at the renowned Ann Lacey School of Dance. So you are trained well in all 3 disciplines.
@Karamiles - I just want it to be able to move on to the decision phase, which can’t start until we have the full list of schools! It has been a long few months!
S accepted to Tisch. Anyone know when they announce the studio?
Responded on the other thread but NYU studio decisions come out in 2 weeks. If your son gets NSB there are two of us from the class of 2022 who are happy to answer questions!
@calmom And to think, we were going through this exact same process a year ago exactly! I’m so glad we’ve had the chance to get to know each other and that our girls are loving NSB!
@boola boola I’m the other parent of an NSB freshman, so feel free to pick our brains.
@32barMom Re: BOCO We heard April 1 straight from the Admissions person at BOCO, but some people have heard already. Maybe they are EA? LOL
@vnstar you are 100 percent correct. Dance every semester at OCU. Looked at recent curriculum. And so much crossover! You can audition for straight plays, musicals and operas. Someone we know who is very highly regarded in the MT world said she wished she considered a BM because the skills learned really prepare you.
Congrats on Tisch @BoolaBoola! D was accepted too and very excited! Looking forward to learning studio placement too.
Congrats @mammameuh! My D would have been happy (and thrived, I think) in any studio but she and @dramamamaCC’s D were thrilled to join NSB last year and it’s been an amazing experience for them both since August.
Thank you @CaMom13! Still kind of in shock but so thrilled! She would love NSB but is excited about any acting studio as well. She just said-“please no playwriting, this girl can’t write plays!” ?
I have heard the studio assignment process described as the Hogwarts Sorting Hat @mammameuh - you don’t know why you get your studio but once you’re there, it’s the right one.
