Class of 2024 Admissions Decisions

I cant believe that so I wouldn’t put much weight into that hack. LOL maybe its the other way around the ones who show no record found are the ones who are accepted
ACT 32 us way above avg.

yea, I doubt it works. My daughter who was accepted and had not claimed her account until yesterday did get the same response though. That she first had to claim it.

I wouldn’t put much faith in the hack. Keep mind also that they have to upload the acceptances in some way and they aren’t done. If they were done, they’d have released it earlier. Its possible that some accepted kids aren’t in the system yet.

As far as re-weight…since SC is on a 6 point scale, would an A in a regular class be a 5 and and honors class be a 5.5 and an AP be a 6? I have zero idea how to recalculate my child’s GPA on their system.

Or is it an A is 4, honors A 4.5 and AP 5?

@Illinoismom23 I am pretty sure SC uses the system that my sons school uses to recalculate GPA An A in a reg college prep is 4.0, Honors is 4.5 and AP is 5.0.

@momofboys99 I would go with inflated GPAs over extra accommodations. My daughter is in one of the top public schools in the nation and made a 31 on the ACT and has a 4. Her GPA is not inflated at all and she works her tail off in AP and Honors classes. Our district doesn’t allow for DE classes. UGA won’t add weight to a Honors class because there aren’t measurable. DE is the same thing. No nationwide standards or test.

How is an A- or A+ calculated?

@jgwolf Most GPAs are based on a 5 point scale. VA is based on a 5 point scale, but our ACT is way higher.

it is not inflated…it is just on a different scale. AP classes in my daughters SC High School are just as challenging. She get A’s and makes 5’s. Her SC weighted GPA is a 5.27 because of the different scale. She got a 34 on the ACT. I know SC schools are not known for their incredibly high standards but flat out saying that they are not challenged is sorta rude IMO. I am sure your daughter is a great student and USC will recalculate her GPA to their grading scale just as UGA does and they actually give credit to Honors classes, unlike UGA.

Sorry if this has already been answered. Does anyone know if scholarships will be posted in the portal tomorrow or will we not know if we’re getting one until the snail mail acceptance comes?

when my daughter was accepted in November it said she will receive merit money but it did not say how much or what kind of scholarship. I believe they announce that later but I could be wrong

So at USC, do they give only straight A, B, C, D, etc or are there plus and minus grades too, like A- or B+?

I believe University of South Carolina recalculates GPA using the state of South Carolina Uniform Grading Policy. In the link below, the chart that begins on page two shows the conversion values:

https://ed.sc.gov/scdoe/assets/File/districts-schools/state-accountability/NEWUniformGrading.pdf

We are out of state, at a school that uses a 0-100 GPA scale and that does not weight AP or Honors classes. This was very helpful in understanding how U of SC would interpret his grades.

Someone told me they thought EA might come out at midnight despite what the email said…very low chance, but I’ll be up to check because I’m manic and impatient

I had the exact same thought about midnight being a possibility, based on nothing other than the fact that some other schools update their portals at that time.

My best guess though is sometime within the 3-5pm ET timeframe.

Has anyone heard anything anecdotally?

@UpstateSCmom You do realize a 5.27 GPA and 34 isn’t a 4.05 GPA and 23 ACT. That’s inflated. If the 4.04 is really a 3.0 on everyone else’s scale then maybe that really does sync up. I can’t believe UofSC put those scores out though and don’t have all of the GPAs on that tool on the same scale. Obviously they don’t though since the VA test is significantly higher, but GPA is close to the same.

I’m not sure where you saw in my post that I blanket said SC schools are not challenging, but I don’t read in my post. I did say that DE isn’t regulated the same way APs are. You are saying your daughter’s AP classes are just as challenging. I agree. They are AP classes.

I also know they will recalculate and I know it will be significantly higher than her FCPS GPA. It will be higher than the VA average.

I would think 3-5pm as well but now am wondering if I am going to need to stay up until midnight!!!

Their FB page says late Friday afternoon. So get some sleep for what will most likely feel like a long day!

Good luck today, everyone! I’m glad USC put the “late afternoon” answer on FB. That will save some time checking throughout the day.

Of course I’ll check a few times anyway, duh. ?

@OceanIsle - yes I already checked this morning. Will try some self control! Best wishes to everyone

Good luck today to everyone!!!
