Class of 2024 Admissions Decisions

Nothing. I even called today to ask if they planned on releasing more notices, and the student answering phones said she didn’t think so. So, I guess we’ll be waiting until December 13th.

All is quiet on the OOS front here… alas

Ok everyone. Same time, same place next Friday. (◔_◔)

I assume there will be nothing the Friday after Thanksgiving, right?

I would presume the school is closed next Friday … maybe Tuesday or Wednesday … who knows?

I wouldn’t expect anything until two weeks from today, which would be Dec 6th.

I’m sure they can have a scheduled dump of emails and uploads into the portal whenever they want. It doesn’t have to be during business hours.

Does South Carolina defer if not accepted EA ?

It is so strange to me that they admitted only a few in state students on Nov. 15th and now they are apparently waiting? Just weird…How did they decide to admit some but not others. I am just thinking out loud, this is a very strange process to me, especially since USC is not rolling admission. I feel like UGA did a better job yesterday releasing all the info for EA on a specific date. Everybody knows at the same time.

Are you meaning If not accepted would they reconsider an application later?

I don’t know SC’s policies, but in most schools, if you get denied, you stay denied until the following year. I don’t think if you get denied EA, you can reapply the same year.

Georgia had 3 actions for their EA applications- Accept, Defer or Deny. If you were deferred you were thrown into the RD pile and they relook at your application along with all the RD. I wondered if USC does that or if they just Accept or Deny

Some of the student’s stats were average? So, I guess that eliminates the theory of the highest stats received letters first.

maybe not highest stats but easy to weed out without extra effort? There had to have been a reason why some kids got it and not others. In my daughter’s school it seems like it was kids in the top of their class. Granted, she does not talk to all 400 students… Plus most kids in the Upstate of SC want to go to Clemson and not to USC.

I know at my child’s school many are applying for the honors college. However, the student who received his acceptance letter father is a popular alumni. I don’t know if that has any weight because he is a scored a 26 on the ACT and active in clubs… So, we are just anxiously waiting.

Definitely strange IMO. Anyways, good luck to your child!

For what it’s worth, I called SC’s AO this morning, and they do Accept, Deny or Defer for EA applicants.

Also, since the AO was open this morning, I would assume that it’s possible that they might do another release this week.

@Palmettostatemom what change did you notice on the portal?

It would be nice to know if any out-of-state students have received word on EA yet?
