Thanks, I was reading out of order, so didn’t realize until I realized! Thanks so much!
So if we live in Michigan, do all decisions come out on December 18 then?
That is the best guestimate from this intelligent group based on 8 years of previous release dates.
However, best practice is to “LIKE” UM Admissions page on Facebook and follow and allow notifications. That way when they announce prior to the release, you will be ready!
They also have a Twitter account you can also subscribe to.
Hi everyone! I am also a current sophomore at UMICH. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Hi mbeste, just wanted to check if Umich considers your second and third majors if the slots are all full in first major…
You’re accepted by school (LSA, Ross, CoE, Nursing, SMTD, Kinesiology, etc.), not by major. You can change majors as much as you want (an inter-school transfer to Ross is difficult) depending on when you want to graduate and money. ?
As a parent, I’ve been lucky. My kid has stuck to the same major (and minor) so far.
Also, you don’t have to declare a major until the end of your sophomore year.
@hmilo394 All EA decisions (instate and OOS) are released at the same time.
Of course, the change from Wolverine Access to Enrollment Connect (new system) for admissions, may or may not change the release date and the above statement. We just don’t know for sure, since this is Year 1 for Enrollment Connect.
If you happen to see any changes or messages in Enrollment Connect, then please let us all know. Also, for reference for future classes. Thanks.
Nooo that’s my birthday
Hi everyone, I am dying from impatience and I would appreciate if someone could chance me.

UMich Essays: communities essay: very good
Activities essay: pretty good
Why LSA/Ross essay: could be better; I didn’t know we could talk about UMich as a whole so I basically only talked about it from an academic standpoint so I think this is my weak point!!!
Like sushiritto said, UMICH places you into a school within the university and not by major. Some schools are considered more selective than others because they enroll fewer students. For example, nursing is considered highly selective since they enroll only about 120 students each year. If you are applying to a more specialized talent based program like SMTD, the University will also allow your application to be given to LSA as a secondary option if you are not admitted to your first choice (in this case SMTD).
@saltypretzel While I commend you on your long list of accomplishments, pretty much every student who applies to UMICH has a lenghty list of extracurriculars and academic accomplishments. I would put a lot of focus on your essays, especially since your applying to Ross. The more you can set yourself apart from other students, the better. For instance, I wrote one of my essays about my family’s farm, and how my involvement in that helped me to understand the importance of community.
@saltypretzel Please start a new “Chance Me” thread for yourself. This isn’t an area for “Chance Me” threads. I’ll be happy to comment over there.
I’m Literally so anxious about this decision. Anyone have any ways to calm down? Just really wanna know probably gonna get deferred though since I’m OOS
Heard from admissions source that it’s coming out Dec. 19
What admissions source? Doesn’t it always come out on a Wednesday?
Does anyone get rejected EA or do you only get deferred/accepted?
I thought it always came out wednesday but my friend’s mom works in admissions and that’s what she told him
I just want to point out that every year we do get a post here on CC from someone who has an “inside source” in admissions. Seriously, every year. I do want to point out that in the past 8 years, EA decisions have not been released on a Thursday.
The only “inside source” here that has been right is @SingingBusDriver. He or she is the real thing. I hoping that she/he comes back again this year.
@saltypretzel Here on CC, I can’t remember anyone posting a rejection in EA. The stats of students that post here skew high. But @SingingBusDriver has mentioned in the past that there are rejections in EA.
IMO, from looking at the stats of the deferred pool, if you’re below the 25/75 median in terms of uwGPA AND ACT/SAT score, then there’s a good chance of EA rejection.
Should we trust this “admissions source”?
