Class of 2024 Early Action Thread

@cak212 remember a few things. 1) They will let in plenty of people after the first group, so all is not lost if you don’t get the message end of Jan. 2) And there are lots of other great options at U of M - Econ, School of Information, Org Studies, School of Policy. You can do a business minor with any of those or an entrepreneurship minor (which lets you draw across the U). 3) And, of course, there are other business schools which offer great experiences.

Best of luck!

I don’t know if this happened to anyone else, but last Thursday my Enrollment Connect changed for a period of about four hours in the morning (around 8-12). It was white and there was a top bar that looked like the wolverineaccess website or the U-M website. After I saw that I checked that checklist link from earlier in this thread (from 12/19) and it was vertical instead of horizontal. But after noon it returned to normal. I’ve been reading this thread for a while and no one has written anything about it. I’m curious to if this has happened to anyone else. I may be thinking too much into this but let me know if anyone had this!

@pizza324, mine looks the same as before when i just checked. Do any deferred applicants now have an X???

All looks the same…haven’t really checked very often because dont expect anything til early February at the absolute earliest…likely march…

Same thing happened to me. It looked different and than it changed back.

@DG @FoxRulz @shushu1 @schmendy27 @2022soon Most of the EAs that are now deferred to RD don’t have the X for Fall transcript (for those unknown to the ways of the X, this is distinct from the X for Final grades, which was pathognomonic of acceptance for EA). Can we have more of those who DO have the X for fall grades assess their chances for admittance so we can see if it means anything?

@Trolleydolly If your kid is a NMF, I’d for sure let your AO know. Colleges love to get kids with those credentials.

@shushu1 If your kid is Regeneron 300, I would similarly let your AO know. I do know for a fact that being a Regeneron Finalist (top 40 or so) is a virtual ticket for admission to every Ivy, Stanford and MIT because a kid I worked with was a finalist and those schools actually reached out to him after accepting him (he was 10 for 10 for the top 10).

Hello
We just logged in to enrollment connect and this is what we see. My son was deferred to RD OOS applied for CS @ COE. Very high stats

Application Checklist
Status Details Date
Received Counselor Recommendation 10/28/2019
Received High School Transcript 10/28/2019
Received Teacher Recommendation 10/28/2019
Received Test Score: ACT or SAT 09/17/2019
Received Application 10/28/2019
We can see green checkmarks for each entry. Don’t see fall grades or final transcripts in this checklist. Question if they get accepted in RD before the wave comes do you see a new entry with X for fall or final transcript?

They are doing things different this year so don’t think anyone’s knows yet.

@shushu1 - i have same…only different dates…no X and all green checks…

To make me feel better if denied, does anyone know the exact tuition including all housing costs for OOS next year at Michigan?

https://admissions.umich.edu/costs-aid/costs

Add a couple percent higher… Lol…

@Knowsstuff
The worst is when you see that in-state out of state side by side comparison, yikes.
Thanks!

Yep
. Been there, done that… Lol. We made an intensive excel spreadsheet for all schools. It’s glaring when comparing OOS vs instate. Hopefully it’s works out for you.

@2022soon - 75k basically OOS. Insane.

That’s probably why last year there were 20 students admitted at a local high school (OOS) but none of them enrolled.

@2022soon, just finished this OOS tuition and it is glaring to see the difference. A couple of other things to consider, depending on your kids major, the tuition may actually be HIGHER than what’s on the website (may son was CS in the college of engineering and tuition was about $2,000 more). The website reflects LSA college. Also, tuition goes UP for the junior/senior year. Michigan has also increased the OOS tuition each year while not necessarily hitting instate or not as much

@Knowsstuff I’m only going to think of what MI residents pay vs OOS if he gets denied, ha. We do not have good state schools so he did not apply to any in-state. So all his schools are about that price point unfortunately. It’s just the others are private.

@Momofbvk shoot! I was worried about that when I saw LSA indicated. Ugh. He’s my most ambitious kid, so I guess it’s an investment. It is shocking how tuition has escalated at these schools though!

@2022soon It is an investment and my DS loved it, although it was grueling at times! The great news, the internship opportunities and job offers coming out of CS are phenomenal. My son felt U of M prepared him very well for his field. Good Luck!

@Momofbvk so good to hear, thank you!!

Note to admitted students:
There is an accepted students University of Michigan class of 2024 forum if you’d like to check out that as well.
