My DD applied in September and her file has said ready for review FOREVER…don’t understand why we are having to wait so long when we applied super early?
In-state daughter received a deferral today in the mail
GPA: 3.5
SAT: 1250
7 AP, 4 Honors courses, 3-season varsity athlete
Requesting mid-year grades and a final decision to follow by March.
Best of luck to everyone!
Whats her intended major? Thats very surprising considering that UNH is a match/safety for her
Business as an intended major…TBH we were surprised to see a deferral at UNH as she’s well in the median range for accepted students from her high school in Naviance.
If I had to guess, she’ll ultimately be accepted in RD. Common data range for 2019 was:
SAT Math: 550-640 (she got a 600)
SAT EBRW: 540-640 (she got a 650)
AVG GPA: 3.5 (she got a 3.5)
Like many other schools in recent years, they seem to be looking to accept as many high-stat kids as possible during EA for the purpose/intent to promote the competitiveness of acceptances (even if the RD pool acceptance stat ranges drop just a few months later).
My daughter received her packet in the mail today. Accepted with no mention of merit. She emailed to ask if it would come separate and they said no if you qualify it will be in your letter. I’m very surprised she didn’t receive anything I know kids that applied last year and got 10k with a 3.0 gpa and half the resume she has. I think they must have changed criteria after going test optional???
So if there’s no mention of the honors college/merit aid in the mail then there’s no merit aid at all? I just got admitted today, but UNH was a huge safety for me, I’m shocked there’s no aid
Daughter got acceptance letter in mail today. Accepted to Honors College, Presidential Scholar and Presidential Scholarship. OOS MA, SAT 1380, GPA 3.95/4, strong. volunteerism and essays. Dual English/education degree.
apparently not. I’m quite surprised. I’m glad it’s not my daughters first choice or she would have been so disappointed
My daughter got her acceptance in the mail today, with an offer of a merit scholarship.
My son got in today. Never got an email, he just randomly checked the portal. He’s in the Paul College. He’s thrilled it’s in in his top 2!
My D is still waiting for a response from UNH EA Engineering…seems to be taking sooo long. She has heard from the other EA schools already.
My D checked the portal today and was accepted in Wildlife Conservation Biology. OOS GPA 3.9 - went test optional. hoping for some merit money to bring down the cost. She’s thrilled as it’s her first choice but not sure the cost will compete with UMass Amherst in state. Good luck to all!
For those who have not received a decision, just curious how many have their admission status still in preliminary review so it hasn’t even changed to complete-under review? We are OOS and DD applied Nov 1. She has heard back from all of her other EA universities as admitted including the University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I know they do say by end of January, but just curious if anyone else’s D or S admission status is still in preliminary review? Congrats to all of you who have been accepted!
My son applied November 1. His status has said “complete–ready for review” for over a month now. We are OOS, and I thought he would be a strong candidate for UNH (31 ACT, 3.9 WGPA, strong essay and extracurriculars). He has been accepted at all of his other EA schools, but nothing yet from UNH.
We have the same message as @CTMom24. S applied mid October and has heard from all other EA schools (8!). It’s quite frustrating.
Ditto for my daughter who applied in early November…her scores aren’t particularly strong but she’s 11 for 11 on her acceptances so far…UNH is her final/top choice so she is getting a bit anxious…
My son checked his portal today and was admitted. He’s in-state, accepted into Biomedical Science. SAT 1390, Weighted GPA 4.6. A few of his friends from the same high school heard today as well. He’s still waiting to hear from a couple of Boston schools, but was admitted to UVM and UMASS in EA. Good luck to everyone waiting. It’s certainly a stressful time!
DS20 got accepted today (poly sci) with a Directors Scholarship.
OOS
GPA 3.98(w)
ACT 35
7 AP classes (so far all 4’s/5s)
Rest all honors classes (except gym/art)
Good EC/leadership
My DD received her acceptance letter today in the mail. Applied EA In-State. LA Undeclared. She never received an email and hadn’t checked her portal so were we happy and surprised by the letter.
@mtemmd congrats on your son’s acceptance and merit award. Your son has high stats and in looking at the merit scholarship options it looks like his stats would fit the requirements for the next level up, Dean’s scholarship unless they possibly recalculated his GPA? My DD’s app status finally just changed to complete-under review after being in preliminary status for the last 2 months. Hopefully, she will hear something soon.
