@magnum2 i will be honest and say I was surprised that his stats didn’t qualify him for the next level up too. His school is very competitive and every class he has taken in high school (except gym and art which don’t have honors options) have been honors or AP. Even if they recalibrated his grades I don’t know what they would have changed. He had a rough go with honors physics last year which dipped him below 4.0 so thought it might be that.
Who knows.
UNH is my alma mater and I love the school. He is a fan too but he already has more $ at another school so that might decide it. We shall see once all the info is in.
My portal has said “Complete- Under Review” since December 17. To anyone who has received a decision- about how long did it take from when your status changed from “Incomplete” to “Complete” to get a decision?
I’m thinking I should hopefully be hearing back within the next two weeks… It’s just difficult to wait! UNH is my top choice, and I’ve gotten into all my other EA schools. Wish they sent decisions out earlier.
is the next step after “Complete-Ready for Review” the actual acceptance/rejection…or is there another phase called “under review” first? thanks all, this forum has been very helpful, lots of anxiety in my house right now re: the waiting.
@Poddlesworth… seconding congrats! Also, very helpful to hear your status went directly from “ready for review” to a decision(admit). Patiently waiting here in Wisconsin for a decision and this is the last school for my daughter to hear from. Best of luck for those still waiting too!
DD just got admitted! OOS, CEPS-Mathematics. For her the application status process was Incomplete-items outstanding(Preliminary Review) from Nov 1-Jan 5, then on Jan 5 it changed to Complete-Ready for Review, and 3 days later changed to Admit.
Congrats to your son!
When did he submit his application?
And, if you know, when did his status change from “Incomplete” to “Complete- Ready for Review”?
Congrats to all accepted so far! S was denied. He knew his gpa was low for engineering, but he got a high score on his ACT so was hoping that would help. Luckily he has many other options, but UNH was one of his top choices.
@taverngirl…very sorry to hear your news. This is always such a tough time for both our children and ourselves with the waiting and then not getting the response we hoped. What other colleges is he considering? Wishing him all the best and thank you for starting this thread. It has been so helpful!
OOS DD received an acceptance into her major of choice (communication) today but no merit mentioned in letter. I’m sad about it. UNH was a top choice for both of us. Weighted GPA 3.98 from a top ranked PA high school, 30 ACT, Extras etc. She received $12,000 from UMass Amherst and $15,000 from UVM. Unfortunately, UNH is just not affordable for us without merit. I guess they must have had a really strong group of candidates this year. I’ll call tomorrow to confirm but I’m not hopeful based upon earlier posts.
Would those OOS students who were accepted who didn’t mention merit please share what they did or did not receive? Thanks.
@magnum2 thanks magnum He’s gotten into 7 other schools so far and would be happy to attend several of them, so it’ll all be good. But he really did love UNH. I was a bit nervous that it was too big for him (and figured he wouldn’t get any merit if he was admitted) so while I’m disappointed, I think he would’ve ended elsewhere in the end. He’s still waiting to hear from Clarkson (probably my top choice for him) but I’m not hopeful considering the UNH denial. He’s been admitted to Quinnipiac, Manhattan, and UMaine and gotten excellent merit at all. Quinnipiac is probably in his top choice now. Is UNH your d’s first choice?
