I feel like you have a 50/50 chance of getting in I go to a pretty poor school with like 4 APs and I had 2 friends from two years back with very similar stats (with less ECs) that applied here 1 of them got in for psychology and the other one got waitlisted and never taken of.
Even though you have a decent chance of getting in I highly recommend you consider some back ups like Buff state (since those 2 schools are pretty connected and there’s a lot of students from Buff state that transfer to UB) since my same friend who didn’t get in his senior year ended up going to Buff State and is transfering to UB in January for biomedical engineering.
Good luck!

@gettfasap223 There is an additional information section on the Common App (assuming that’s what you are using to apply) where you can explain anything you want the college to know about you in addition to what you have already told them in your essay/Common App, which you could take advantage of to maybe touch on your C-. Your extra curriculars are great though! The fact you are that involved in your school and community can play a large role your evaluation. Also, the fact that you challenged yourself with AP classes will hopefully outshine the grade you got. UB has also offered some of the lower stat students spring admission (a semester late) so if you are that committed to attending UB that might be something you would have to consider. Regardless of that, your gpa is great, don’t let your SAT hold you back! You got this!!!
I applied mid October for EA and just got accepted today. My stats were identical, 3.3 GPA and 1110 on the SAT. Lots of EC’s, and good LOR’s. You’ll probably be good to go also then!
I applied EA on Nov. 9th and have still not heard back, and I am starting to get nervous. My GPA and SAT are both within the 25-75 range, I have several AP/honors courses, numerous ECs (probably the strongest part of my application), a pretty good essay (my English teacher from last year is impressed with it), and good recs from my AP Gov teacher, and my math teacher from last year. For me it said by January 1st, which is like in two weeks and the admissions office is closed next week. Crossing my fingers to hear by this Friday.
As it seems, the decisions are coming out in waves, but is it by major, school, test score, or something. I am also in NYS if that helps and I applied as a communications major.
Son was accepted last week. 1240 SAT, 3.53 GPA (UW). Biology major. In state. He did not accept offer as he has also been accepted to his first choice school and several others he preferred. Good luck to everyone in this process!
thats so reassuring omg. are you in state? I know that location also matters
Does anyone know whether a presidential scholarship winner gets notified right away upon acceptance to buffalo? When would they be notified? Do all students admitted into the honors college receive the presidential scholarship?
@vboyyy If it’s the same now as in 2017, the presidential scholarship is a separate process that involved follow-up interviews after the deadline for submitting the supplemental presidential scholarship application.
So, no, people were not notified right away, since it’s a separate process.
I was accepted today into the College of Arts & Science!!
Outside of the Presidential Scholarship, UB also offers a Provost Scholarship. My son was awarded $10K/per year for all four years last year when he was accepted. So there are additional merit awards. As a UB grad I was impressed that they would have offered that to out of state students.
I just filled out the scholarship interest form, and one of the questions asked the likelihood of me attending UB if I wasn’t awarded a scholarship. I selected “highly likely” as my answer, but now I’m worried that they may give me a smaller amount, or no scholarship at all, since they know that UB is my top choice. Am I just being paranoid, or can this actually make a difference? I’m an international student, by the way.
Humm… Accepted back on 12/2, but the big envelop is still MIA… Is that considered normal?
The big envelope will follow. Don’t worry about it. The letter in the package will provide information on logging into their portal. Not important at this stage unless you are going to attend UB.
Instead of a big envelop, got a letter (1-page) via postal mail with login access info for the HUB.
Feeling a bit unsettled without the big fat package, just saying…
Same here. I got a letter of login access info to my ubhub.
Yes, the regular envelope is the HUB login but you will eventually receive the big white envelope package with the words ‘Congrats’ and the beautiful Buffalo on it (or at least that’s what they sent last year). Not to sound bias, but I graduated UB years ago. You were accepted to a really good school.
I’m considering applying to SUNY Buffalo, does anyone know if their nursing program is direct entry or do you have to apply again after 2 years
@deluxeyears Nursing at UB is not direct entry
