Class of 2024

Is the admissions office closed for the break? I haven’t seen much posting here lately

Yes. Office should reopen on 1/2.

@deluxeyears - If accepted to Honors College, then they guarantee admission to upper level (last 2 years) of nursing.

Now I’m starting to get worried if I’m getting in or not. I have a 3.3 GPA with a 1040 SAT. I understand that my scores are way below average but I have a total of 7 AP classes, 2 Honor classes and two College courses on my transcript so far. I’m part of Virtual Enterprise which is a class that simulates an actual business and I am the company’s CFO, this class is almost like a EC as it takes a lot of my down time like attending conferences and presentations after school at colleges. I’m part of the Arista National Honors Society (treasurer) and I have a digital arts background for my school. I also taken extra regents for the fun of it so I have 7 passed regents instead of the regular 5 needed. My application was complete 10/28 for EA (I applied undecided to get past the limited admissions for Accounting) but I already see people for RD getting acceptances. Should I start giving up on the dream of going to UB as it is the only school I want to attend? And should I start being prepared to accept my backup plan of going to University at Albany?

@FutureCPA101 I wouldn’t lose out hope but you do recognize your SAT is on the low side. GPA is fine for UB. I’ve seen some with similar low SATs get in and hopefully Admissions will see the whole picture with your candidacy. Good luck and let us know. Fingers crossed ??

My D was accepted to the honors college just before Christmas, and just received the myUB Hub login letter today. There’s nothing about merit in the myUB hub yet though. She applied EA right before the deadline.

Has anyone received merit notification yet? If so, did it show up in the myUB hub under “aid/scholarships” or in the big envelope (which she hasn’t received yet), and how long did it take to show up after getting the hub login letter? Thanks!

@stencils
Congrats on being accepted to the Honor College!

So far we have not received any info on merit aids. Not on myUB Hub nor big envelope.

(FYI, we received the big envelope 3 weeks after receiving the myUB Hub login letter)

I think it’s starting to be safe to say I probably was deferred to regular admissions. I literally have no excitement for another college like I have for Buffalo. If I don’t get in, I’m definitely going to lose a lot of motivation

applied 11/14
got in 1/6
gpa: 3.55W at a competitive nyc school
sat: 1210 superscore
4 APS + dual enrollment at a CUNY
psychology

Scholarship/award letters will be sent separately through mail and will also appear on MyUB HUB site.

Did y’all apply to the presidential scholarship? When do I hear back?

I did - I think they said you will be notified if you got an interview by January 17th

Does anyone know what the time frame for regular admissions decisions are? My son applied the last week of November.

My son applied in mid October and received his decision almost 2 months later. Some people hear very quickly, but decisions will continue to be released through March and possibly beyond. Accepted students days are in April. Good luck!

DD just accepted 1-10 EA !!!
applied 10/28
93w/1070 SAT( not good)
in state,(low middle class),great EC’s/job/essay

  • congrats to all - take heart a low score on SAT or a lower gpa doesn’t automatically exclude you :slight_smile:

Son applied EA back on 11/12 and got accepted into the Biochemistry program about a month later. 93 weighted GPA, 1320 SAT, 28 ACT, lots of EC, and pretty much all AP and honors courses. No information re: scholarships or any of that to this point. It’s not his top choice, but I’d be more than happy if he went there.

Oddly, he received the myUB login information via regular mail about 2 days before he got the bigger acceptance package, and doesn’t think he ever got an email re: being accepted. Same thing happened to my daughter two years ago. She got the myUB information in a small envelope and refused to open it because she thought it was a rejection letter. lol Then she got the bigger package the next day. Never got an email that she recalls. She wound up going to a different school, but UB has provided the excitement of being the first college to accept both of my kids, so there’s that. :slight_smile:

@QDad42
Same here, my son got accepted in the same program in early December, got the myUB login info within a week, then waited for another 2 weeks before the bigger package arrived… LOL!

Any clue when UB release the financial aids info?

I just received an update today, I was waitlisted so now I have to wait another couple months for this decision :frowning:
