For this year***
@xn3mom Thanks for the update. It would appear that as an OOS parent I’ve lost $5K as a result of the changes–Ouch.
At the risk of going OT, does anyone know from past experience if we should expect the official financial aid/scholarship offers to come out ~2/15 along with the remaining admission decisions?
Bummer looks like we are out $7500 a year. That does it for us. Waiting for Buckeye scholarship at OSU. University of South Carolina came through with a great scholarship . If I would have known my son would have taken Act one more time. So glad we applied to several schools as now a little late to apply at other schools with this new info in mind . Good luck everyone.
@PSU83EE I also feel your pain. Still I really love Clemson for my DS, so hopefully I’ll get over it soon enough. It is unfortunate that they will probably lose some good students from it. The biggest drop in scholarship amount (percentage-wise) is for those in the ACT 32-33 range and SAT 1470-1490 range - from $15K-$10K per year.
@Lenoir I’m in the same boat. And I applied to the same schools! Good luck with the rest of your son’s college process!
@confidentialuser71. Thanks you also !! He also got a great scholarship in state at WVU. Got into Penn State but looks like no aid. So now narrowed down by scholarships. Fingers crossed OSU ,USC and WVU. Clemson is a great school and I really wanted it to be the one. Good luck everyone.
Thanks @xn3mom guess if your school doesn’t rank you are out of luck!
So disappointing. It will be interesting to see when their stats are released next fall if their gamble paid off and they were able to win some of those top test scorers with more money.
@PSU83EE it has been 4 years ago, but my senior at Clem received only her merit with her admission (in Dec), and then we got a final financial statement in March I believe. Much to our surprise there was an additional one time $500 scholly included from their list of random scholarships that were available without having to apply for them. I don’t know if those extra scholarships still exist, as I haven’t scoured the link since then.
If it helps at all, many of the fees listed in the net-price calculator are very overestimated. I think the most we ever paid for books a semester was $500, and that was rare (could have been her major haha). She brought her own laptop, so that takes off some too. Remember, they often move off campus 2nd year and the meal plan goes away (which is about 2K). Yes they still need to eat, but it becomes more of a budget college diet (many end up working a PT job to help cover those starbucks/chick-fil-a runs). You can choose a room that is a few thousand less than the 8K they are estimating. Also, that personal expenses column is rather high IMO. Just a little insight from someone who just paid their last tuition check for child #1! One more to go for me!
So I tried the hack this AM and it is asking for an activation code…is that a positive sign that an orange envelope will be in the mail soon???
@dmdalton7 I think so - congrats. Just checked and no change for us.
@DCNatFan …Fingers crossed for you!!
Still getting: Unable to determine your acceptance status.
My hack changed this morning!
No change
My OOS DD changed this morning!!! Now, would it change if only offered bridge? Don’t want to get to excited for her yet.
My daughter’s hack changed this am. We’ll see, good luck to all.
My daughter’s hack changed this morning as well. Curious about the bridge question too.
My son’s “hack” changed this morning. We are OOS in VA. Hoping for merit aid but we come from a very competitive high school that doesn’t rank. He has a very high ACT of 35 but his weighted GPA is just 3.87.
My son’s hack changed this morning as well! In State.
