Clemson Admissions - Class of 2023 DISCUSSION

Psychology. Hoping they let waitlist kids know before 5/1 but highly unlikely I’m guessing.

@houghmaddie - what FB Bridge group? My boys are both going to Clemson via Bridge and I’ve been looking for a FB group so they can meet potential roommates. Would you please PM me the group name? Thanks so much!!!
Edited out personal info

@JF1117 Looking at threads from previous years regarding CU waitlist, some received acceptances the very end of April while others well into June which is really late. Letter says June 1, so I’m not optimistic we’ll hear sooner, but you never know. I wish you the very best of luck.

Thank you. You too.
(Hoping for April!!)

Was he waitlisted or offered the bridge program?

This morning the hack website changed to ““Welcome to Clemson, please enter your ID on your acceptance letter” Our letter came in the mail this evening and my son was NOT accepted. I thought if you receive this message you were accepted?

Has this happened to anyone else?

@Zline Not sure who you are asking, but my son was waitlisted, not offered Bridge.

Still nothing in the mail, starting to get worried…

@RMSqueencat. We still havent heard either way - so I’m assuming we will have similar results to your son. How did Indiana go?

Does anyone know the chances of getting a spot if on the waitlist? I am assuming it is very low. Clemson was not my son’s first choice, but he was waitlisted.

Does anyone know anything about TTSB? I got into that program and I don’t know much about it.

@aj22110508 Hi! Someone posted information they got from admissions about the TTSB (a few pages back on the thread), and I also asked a question about it and got some responses. Go back a few pages and read through the responses and that might help. I don’t know if anyone else has gotten anymore info. My daughter was accepted into this program, and I’m not sure how I feel about it as a viable option for us for a variety of reasons but a few other people offered their perspective which was helpful. Good luck!

Anyone find about merit aid yet? My daughter was accepted we are OOS, from Ohio. Today she sent me a screenshot of the 5K in loans that she was offered. Sincerely hoping for another tab that reveals merit

@2019ohiomom for my daughter, all of the awards (scholarships and loan offers) were in the same “awards” tab in the financial aid section.

The Financial aid office stated any scholarship would be included along with loans and grants. They also stated all scholarship money has been allocated and there are no appeals. My son thought he qualified for an OOS merit scholarship and feels unwanted. Clemson was his #1 but now looks like Penn State. Oh well! 1410 SAT. School does not rank.

My daughter received the same email - We are also out of state (NYC) - accepted Regular decision for FALL ‘ 19. No scholarship / merit aid received. Clemson was not her first choice, but it was a great 2nd option for her. It just made the decision easier to go with her first choice, Univ of Delaware, which provided a good scholarship.

@Fuse1988 Out of curiosity, did your daughter visit both universities? What is her major? My son got into both Clemson and UDel too. He didn’t get any merit from Clemson either. (Likely) will get $8K merit from UDel, which, if it goes through will be a ~20% discount over Clemson cost. Merit is an important factor, but just one part of the equation. We visited Clemson and liked the campus and overall atmosphere, so we are leaning that way at the moment. Haven’t visited UDel yet. From my research thus far, it’s a great school too, but nowhere near the Clemson’s school spirit (through the roof). UDel is also a well known “party school”, which may be a plus or a minus, depending on what your daughter is looking for  Also, much milder climate in SC, if that matters.

@genesmasher - Her Major is Animal Science - Veterinary science. UDEL provided 16K in Scholarships - that is hard to say no to when Clemson did not offer anything. I would have preferred Clemson because of the School Sprit, but UDEL has a great animal science program / research. The climate is better in SC without a doubt - but both schools are really even as far as educational content. Clemson sure does have great sports where UDEL does not. UDEL is a huge party school, and has been that way for years. We have a visit to UDEL next weekend, Clemson, we have not visited. We were waiting for financial aid info to come through so that we can see what were the better options were. A few factors outweighed this decision. UDEL is a great school, has a great animal science - vet program, they offered a decent enough scholarship, and it is only 2.5 hrs away from home. If Clemson would have offered something, the decision would have been much more difficult.

@goinnuts My son loves Clemson but he is also disappointed he didn’t get any merit either - just the $5500 in loans. He has a 34 ACT, 3.8 gpa (which is lower than should be - ADHD) but his school doesn’t rank. He has other great choices and may be attending Penn State, U Maryland or FSU. He is deferred at UGA so if accepted, he would stay in state and save a lot of money.

@Leaddog we are in the same boat. Will likely opt for the more affordable in-state option. Grateful to have both to choose from.
