Clemson University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

It seems that, based on last year, that the edit means you are not going to get accepted, but maybe i’ll get lucky. I hope so.

I also have the button…

Let’s hope not. If something about your app (major, etc) says “Clemson” then I would bet you get in. Bottom line is they have to juggle getting their enrollment numbers vs applicant pool. Heard from an Auburn leader that they, for example, defer qualified apps from GA who have the stats for UGA or Tech because they likely won’t come. Each school playing the game.

What do you mean by this? Can you give an example?

Just speculating but I would guess wanting to major in business would reduce your chances as plenty of other schools have the same or better business schools. Engineering, on the other hand, might accept someone with similar credentials. Total speculation. Not sure how they ultimately decide which OOS candidates have a higher probability of enrolling.

That makes sense. Maybe they yield protect and that is what is happening to me.

my stats are worse than yours and i applied to health science

Do you have the button or is it gone?

i think admissions are so unpredictable and trying to gauge how it’ll go based on speculation about buttons vs no buttons probably won’t mean much in the end. i don’t feel much different about my chances having no button. i hope everything works out for everyone and no matter what everyone will end up just where they are supposed to

I hope you’re right. I really don’t want my first rejection to be Clemson because that would mean the more selective schools I apply to will probably go bad.

If you look on the thread, for last year, several people were deferred, who did not have the edit button.

That is interesting about Auburn yield protecting. They’re not wrong - if a GA kid gets into UGA or Tech, Auburn and Clemson’s OOS price tags are hard to justify, and current scholarships don’t bring the cost low enough to compete. We are in GA and my kid applied to all of these schools. We expected a deferral at UGA but he got in, and from this side of things, it seems like he applied to too many schools. Guess it’s better safe than sorry.
