Clemson University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

I meant to say it was still there. I was doing homework and halfway paying attention…

Edit Term button is still on my dtr’s portal…as a reminder, Clemson is her reach! She applied on Oct 1st, completed App shortly thereafter and is undeclared.

If I had known this we never would have encouraged him to apply. He has no interest in waiting out a waitlist. Ridiculous

I think you are forgetting that Clemson does not want as many oos students as possible, as a public university, they cap oos enrollment at approximately 35 percent of class However, 85 percent of applicants are from out of state.

Clemson had a huge jump in applications in 2021, they basically doubled in one year from 28,000 to 50,000 (and increased by another 10,000 by 2023). Looking at statistics prior to 2021 isn’t really meaningful because the size of the applicant pool has increased so much.

I can tell you the experience of applicants at the two oos private schools my kids attend last December. Clemson admitted EA the students with the highest GPA/ test scores and deferred a much larger percentage of applicants to RD. I just don’t think it’s accurate to claim Clemson yield protects oos, we saw no evidence of that.

Good luck to all the applicants on Thursday.

I know. I love Ohio state and I am thankful to be accepted. I just selfishly want to maintain my streak of no rejections.

Where is this button? Everyone is referring to when I login to the applicant management site. Is it on the homepage or do you actually have to open the application? Does someone have a screenshot please thanks.

You probably don’t have a button (a good sign), if you did, you would see it right away.

It’s a small button w the phrase Edit Term right on the portal.

We didn’t look at statistics prior to 2021 we looked at last year’s statistics and their common data set. This was a target school for my son who is OOS.

Just next to the term (Fall?) applying to…,

My daughters best friend went on an official tour the first week in December. The guide told her that Clemson will have a large number of deferrals and not to get discouraged. BUT check this … said that Clemson will have to accept 50% in state. Not that 50% will commit to going there but that they are required to admit 50% in state! No clue if this is true or not but seemed odd for them to just say this if it’s not true.
Also if you look at what is important to Clemson it clearly says in state residency is ranked “very important”

Makes sense! I hope your streak continues :grinning:

You do have to go into the application screen to see it

I wasn’t responding to you but to the person who said high stats oos would be waitlisted. Best of luck to your son!

I saw that and wasn’t sure it state residency meant SC or OOS?

Congrats on UGA EA.

The edit term button and withdrawal button have been on the front page of the portal since you received it. Some of us have noticed since yesterday those two buttons are now absent .

Clemson enrollment is around 50% OOS. Their goal is 70% in-state but SC can’t support that with the population and in-state stats. That’s exactly why they have the Path to Clemson program. Bottom line all of these schools are trying to get the highest quality yield while trying to meet their In-State/OOS objectives. UGA last year, changed to a target of 20% OOS but GA has the population and candidates to support having 80% in-state.
