Let me add- that last year my cousins bf - In state was accepted to Harvard and waitlisted at UGA. He did end up coming off the WL and is now at UGA but insane to me!
What major is this if I may ask. I also applied for a major that might be limited but Iâm not sure
Sports communications
6pm Eastern.
Wondering how to find about how many they accept into each Major/ Program. Is this info somewhere? Like ive heard some programs are harder to get into than others but I have no idea where yall are getting that info?
What is your major?
6 hours folks! AHHHH I feel sick!
Wow! We also had an in-state kid who got into MIT but not UGA. Makes no sense.
Thatâs a great question. My daughter applied to the womenâs leadership program and I have no idea how competitive it is!
My son is extremely similar to you, but has sports communications as alternate major and mathematical sciences as first. He also sent his ACT. I didnât realize that program only admits a handful. I know OOS is harder. Good luck to everyone!
Yes, Nov 17th was a wild day around here. Several students who were deferred by UGA (1400-1500 SATS) were admitted this week to GT. Many of the students who were accepted EA at UGA were denied this week at GT. This process has been so confusing. At the end of the day, I know wherever our kids end up is where they are supposed to be. But this stress has been so much more on them than it ever was for us. My daughter was in tears Monday evening when UVA announced that tomorrow would be the decision. She said âI just really want them to like meâ. She is an amazing young woman who wonât be defined by where she ends up at college but my heart breaks that this is so mind consuming. So, as i said before and I genuinely mean it, Hereâs hoping our children get accepted by the place that they dream for and that will allow them to become the best versions of themselves.
With all the craziness I e seen on these boards no wonder our children are stressed out. By the stats, us, and this whole process.
College admissions has become a big crazy game. I almost wish theyâd transition to a matching process like they do in medical school. Have the applicants rank their college choices; have the colleges rank the applicants; and then apply an algorithm to match it all up and assigning a school. Of course, I know that probably wouldnât work in the huge world of college admissions but I wish it would. This current process of applying to 15-20 schools is crazy and heaps enormous stress on our young people.
Thatâs the problem, applying to 15-20 schools.
Well, thatâs your job as a parentâŠto remind her that she wonât be defined by a college acceptance or rejection, and that she will experience success no matter where she ends up. This board is insane. I can see why many of your kids are over-stressedâŠmight have something to do with over-involved snowplow parents. Relax, itâs gonna be ok.
I will never understand kids applying to that many schools and schools theyâve never seen. We applied to 5.
Same. 6 I think. but we visited 4 of them.
There is no might about it. I am here for dates of release and to gain information. I do not share any of this with my child. I only bring up applications when it is brought up by him. No need to add to the stress.
Same. Itâs a great support place for parents who donât share the way we feel inside to our kids to make sure they dont carry an additional burden of worry.
Fair enoughâŠbut you and others may be adding to the stress in ways youâre not even recognizing. just bc youâre not revealing your participation on this board to your child, doesnât mean youâre not revealing your own stress in many tiny ways.
WhateverâŠ
