Thank you! There’s just a lot of different interests. Ended up picking sports comm due to some hooks in that area… but could just as easily pick something else. Truly undecided but with a lot of different interests. I’m realizing just how competitive sports comm is.
Portal updated to edit both majors.
When I look at change major options there’s no business options despite it not being a closed program, anyone know why?
I can see in my drop down “Business(all business areas)”

Interesting. Different state, but nearby. My kid was accepted with scholarship. One of my good friends works in college department of a private here and she said 85 kids applied. I swear she said all deferred, but possibly not all. Don’t remember exactly what she said, but seems to align with what you were saying. Maybe first time with EA they just didn’t have enough time and pushed off for more time.
Yes! Im hearing entire schools are being deferred, both public and private. Is this because they have not had time to review all applications? Has anyone actually been rejected or all just deferred? Ive had many discussions with parents and apparently on Tik Tok kids are discussing this. Interesting…
I was just reading that U VA changed this year to Accept, reject or waitlist and removed the Deferred status. The whole new “deferred” grey area is a little confusing to me.
Does anyone know the percentage of kids who were deferred last year but then were later accepted? I read somewhere they deferred 17,000 last year in EA and rejected only 500. I know there will be a lot to not accept the deferral offer and move on but 17,000 is a huge number. My daughter applied from a private school OOS and out of about 15 students who applied we know 2 that were accepted and the rest deferred.
So, Im thinking they accepted around 30% which would be around 18K… of that 18k, no one knows how many will admit. I may b e completely wrong…lol
From The Website…
We received almost 60,000 applications for the Fall 2023 first‐year class for a class of approximately 4,500. With such a competitive applicant pool and limited space in the first-year class, we are not able to admit all applicants with strong academics.
Strange, i dont have that, what’s your major?
My daughter major psychology

that’s straight up insane
that’s crazy that he was outright rejected. I would call them and at least talk to someone about it.
This year?
I’m also curious if ANYONE was denied during EA? And if not, feeling a little frustrated about that. Our kids pushed themselves to get their applications early - so that they would receive an early decision. If in fact, deferral was simply “we didn’t have enough time to get to you” then I’m quite angry. We actually celebrated my DS’s deferral thinking it meant something. Do I now tell him - oh by the way, it really meant absolutely nothing?
Back in 2018 my OOS daughter applied and was accepted as undeclared. When she went to orientation they said for advisors, course selection etc she should declare a major and she declared BA ecomonics and then she changed to BS economics which is the degree she graduated with.
We haven’t heard of any declines and we know two kids who applied with GPA, rank and other stats not even close to what Clemson would actually accept ( not judging in the least ) and they were deferred which was a total shock .
I think it’s pretty obvious they just deferred everyone. Total ■■■■ show, pardon my french. Why have Early Action? Why put kids through that?
ANyone know how many total applicants there were? Or any stats?
