I think your position is that you were denied during EA but yet got into GT. Just doesn’t seem right
I agree, it makes zero sense.
I didn’t really think he would get into GT, but now we are trying for Emory, they have the same acceptance rate. I guess you never know what admissions is going to do.
SRAR makes a lot of sense and is the only logical and reasonable way to compare all applicants.
How does SRAR help over an official transcript??
Feel for you, something sounds off, those are stats for in state, it’s worth a call……so you’re saying there’s a chance
What is his class rank and his major? That seems to be making a big difference at a lot of these schools this year!
What major does Clemson take the most? Most other schools say they are not taking major into consideration
If you go to Clemsons information pages one of the things listed under -“what we look for” is majors it specifically says that they can only admit so many into each program. So I know it’s important to Clemson. I don’t know the hardest but I do know nursing is 5%, engineering is supposed to be hard and also marketing. I am sure there are others I just don’t know what they are.
Here is the last list I saw -
- The Clemson University closed majors for the 2023-2024 academic year are: Architecture, Communication, Construction Science & Management, Health Science, Landscape Architecture, Language and International Health, Nursing, Psychology*, and Sports Communication**.
Sports Communication is the most difficult and only accepts around 40 students, with a large portion of those being scholarship athletes.
Where did you find this info? Can you send link?
No rank at his school and major is economics
Psychology is also a hard admit major at Clemson.
My daughter was accepted. She is from a high performing, public OOS high school that also does not rank.
Does anyone know if the deferred kids need to send in first semester grades?
In the world of big data, the universities know the quality/reputation of the high schools (and the success rate of the kids that matriculate).
So they may take kids ranked 1-10 @ HS “A” and only 1-5 @ HS “B” despite similar class size. From history, they know the quality of instruction….and those HS with reputations of grade inflation.
Those of you with HS kids about to take act/Sat.
DO NOT let them “bubble in” the 4 free schools to send scores to. Remember schools are test optional - NOT test blind.
If you send the score it goes in your profile. And then you’re digging out with pressure to overcome the first score
Control the narrative with TO schools.
ONLY send the score when its competitive in the CDS quartiles.
Even before TO, my kids knew not to send the free scores.
No it is not necessary per admissions counselor.
Does anyone know if it’s possible to change both major choices on this application between an EA deferral and the RD round?
There’s been a change of mind (normal for a 16-year-old) and these majors are way too competitive anyway. Undeclared would really be the best option.
We went to a lot of college tours this summer. We were on the road a whole month, and most schools said do not pick undeclared because it’s ultra competitive however, I have no first-hand knowledge with that. I would say Declare what he truly wants to do and leave it at that. You can’t guess especially with Clemson. I wish you all the best of luck!
