I’m not an expert but an advisor who is said don’t submit unless 1250 or above. Up to you tho…
I’m taking my daughters SAT score off (which they already saw it I’m sure) she doesn’t test well either only got 1140 and pretty much straight A student ton of DE and honors classes.
Waiting to see if she can get her unofficial transcript on Friday.
My son never sent his score which was a 1290 because we were being told it wasn’t high enough on the 50 percentile. Now we don’t know what to do
I think the decision to send in scores may be different depending on what state/ school you’re from, what major etc. so it can vary. the general rule is if it doesn’t strengthen your app don’t submit. My son is in business and there are quite a few TO kids he knows. So its certainly not a dead end of you don’t submit it. He also knows someone who had a high gpa, lots of AP/honors, but submitted a low 1200 and got bridged. (She accepted bridge and is very happy) but she wishes she hadn’t submitted her score thinking she may have been admitted to regular campus. The just posted the middle 50% of last year admits and it was 1240-1400.
Hi all. Anyone know how to reach out to inquire about merit monies not mentioned in the initial acceptance letter? We more than qualify academically, but we went TO and we are wondering if that hurt us? Any information would be great.
Thank you!
Can you share what the qualifications for academic merit scholarship money are? I have looked but haven’t found it. Thanks for your help!
Hi… Let me see where I saved the information and will report back. The list I had showed it was based on SAT scores. Being that we went TO, I am wondering if that booted us out. We are 4.2GPA, top 6% of class, 12 AP’s , all rest honors. Nothing under an A- (was an AP course) on transcript.
I don’t think there are any hard set stats, but I think $12,000 is max from what I’ve seen. My daughter had a 33 act, 10th in her class of 300, 3.9+ uw (1 B), and gets $10,000 a year. They accepted all 7 of her AP scores which helped. She’s also in honors.
I was accepted with scholarship OOS with 3.7/4.25 weighted, probably top 25-30% of class, is it safe to assume my $$ will be something like 1-2K yearly
Curious as well. My daughter is 4.0UW/5.0W, #6 out of 515, 31 ACT, but 36 English (what she plans on majoring in) and 34 writing. OOS Nevada. No mention of any Merit aid.
I think she likes Clemson and VT more than UGA, but I get the feeling that we will end up with more help from UGA. UGA is also close to 10k less a year…
Historically no mention of merit money in acceptance letter means none is coming. Before covid and TO there was a grid based on a combination of test scores and GPA that delineated the amount of merit. Now I think with TO merit awards are much more subjective.
It’s very odd isn’t it ? Some that posted stats have much lower than us and had mention of it too
Thank you for the update . It’s odd since we have higher stays than many saying they had mention of it
its all a stats game… they may simply want to pull in more students from other states, more males vs females… you just never know!
@sky23 did you find your sign?
I think you have to order the sign if you aren’t able to pick up!
Our daughter was accepted EA. She applied close to the deadline for EA. Now she is interested in housing. How does that work? I hear that it is tied to the time of application. Or should we be putting in the housing deposit now?
Housing is based upon application date. No need to put down a deposit early. Many kids in SC know about the housing priority and some apply right around August 1 when the application opens.
My daughter applied at the end of RD, so she was at the bottom for housing. We paid for her to be in CUBS, the business llc (for other reasons besides housing), and she got first pick at Douthit. Honestly she would’ve been fine in the shoeboxes, but got a lot out of CUBS.
@sky23 yes you will have to order it. (Unless you can get to SC - many locations within state to pick it up) It isn’t expensive and it only takes about a week to receive. I guess that also depends on your location. Tigertown Bound Yard Signs – Clemson Alumni Association
