Not sure. We didn’t know what to expect. It was his #1 choice. For reference he was 4.38, 1420 with 8 AP’s and Eagle Scout with other extra curriculars. Good luck! And remember that deferred isn’t rejected. You never know.
Separate timelines on both of those.
I don’t think Clemson yield protects, high stats across the board (gpa/scores/rank) are getting in, passed the first round. Clemson also defers A LOT in EA who end up with acceptances.
My OOS student I’m coaching through ScholarMathc just got in TO.
But they have had to pull many students off of waitlist for the last two years. CDS 2024 has not been published yet but it was reported many of this years class (similar to UTK) came off the WL. Will be interesting to see stats for sure.
Deferred and depressed. Was first choice.
My OOS daughter accepted! Woo!
Engineering, 4.24W/3.94 UW, 32 ACT, lots of music EC including marching band, legacy 3x including both of her parents. Scholarship pending.
I am shocked.
I’m dying here! My D25 just got home from her sports practice and hasn’t opened it yet! She is going to wait until later tonight when she is in her “safe space”.
Stats:
Nursing major
OOS
ACT 35
Didn’t think twice about opening UGA in front of her class last week (defer)
But now is torturing her Clemson alum mom and not opening this one!!! I’m sure it will be defer…but let’s rip off the bandaid!
OOS

This is the official thread for those applying EA to Clemson University.
List your unweighted GPA, any SAT /ACT scores, and ECs. What majors are you going into?
Ask your questions, the CC community is here to help!

Interesting. In my opinion they need to revisit how admissions is done. Again, by February many/most students know where they are going and/or won’t hold out that long.
Yes
deferred…kid pretty annoyed
OOS, Comp Sci
1400 SAT, 4.73W/3.8UW
ECs, officer position girls who code, co-founder of varsity flag football, two sports, part time job
already into PSU and that board also confused me insofar as who is in and out
congrats to all who got in…not sure i am up for another round of buttons in feb, but was fun while it lasted. best to all
OOS accepted!
4.74 weighted/3.95 unweighted
TO
Psychology major
She visited in the spring and met with the psych dept advisor, so possibly that helped?
ECs were good but not over the top
When we visited Clemson in Fall the admissions person said in her presentation that EA was based on stats only. They had too many applications and could not do holistic review.
Did anyone who was test optional get in if they weren’t in the top 10% of their class?
Do you have a class rank? My daughter’s BFF has the same stats/major and is in state and got deferred. Her rank was in the 30%.
I’m not sure because her school doesn’t provide rankings. They are a pretty competitive/challenging school though, not sure if that helps?
Our school doesn’t rank but DS is NHS, has a 3.99 UW/4.4W. Not sure if that would be top 10% because so many students take ALL APs. DS has 9 APs, one DE and several honors. The school generally does not allow honors or AP classes freshman year so it “hurts” from a weighted GPA standpoint (hurts all students at the school, compared to other schools).
And did she get in?
Yes. (he)
