Does anyone have any information on Clemson merit for OOS students? The conventional wisdom seems to be “don’t expect anything”. However, their website seems to suggest that there might be something like an OOS tuition waiver:
My student was notified with their acceptance that she would receive “merit” and would be notified of the amount in March. Does anyone have any examples of what that amount really means at Clemson? Ranges are fine…just looking for any data. Just wondering if when people say the merit is weak I’m wondering if it is 1) that not many people are offered it, or 2) the $$ value of the named award is small but there is an OOS waiver attached to it, or 3) they really only give something in a range of $x to $xx for OOS. The full webpage that I took the screenshot from is here: First-Year Recruiting Scholarships - Student Financial Aid
When I followed the Fall 2024 thread, I noted that around $9K a year was likely with the max being $12K. S25 also got the same merit wording with his acceptance.
My daughter is a senior oos, she gets $10,000 a year, the highest her year was $12,000. 3.95 uwgpa (1 B), 33 act, 10th in her class of 300. I’ve heard it’s gotten harder.
Our feelings as well. I like how USC does it by sending you what the minimum amount is because that at least tells you something! But Clemson has housing opening soon and its difficult to go ahead with those steps when you just don’t have any idea what the final range might be.
In prior years at Clemson housing priority was determined by when you apply and not when you sign and pay the housing deposit. Not sure if that has changed this year though.
Nope, still the same, and even the very earliest applicants will receive merit notification before that. My daughter from NJ didn’t even see the campus until the end of April 2021, she accepted after that. She chased meri, so no final decision until all of
Very little/almost none. My daughter has some, but Clemson is notorious for almost no scholarships. Everyone’s kids are top of their class, etc, and with 55,000+ applicants, Clemson knows it doesn’t have to give much.
Did anyone see the post today on FB that a student was on tour and had a one on one with an admission officer and told that RD decisions will be delayed “about a week”. Potentially Feb 20 now. I am really tired.
