The problem is, these are not characters on a TV show. These are real people who were caught in a vulnerable moment, which a stranger filmed and decided to use as TikTok fodder.
I can appreciate this thought, however it is possible to be interested and informed on this situation AND world events. Which I think many if not most of us are.
And not just the concerts, but trying to buy a lousy beer at the CPA, $18 plus tax and tip. They search you so you can’t even sneak anything in!
Admittedly, we’re a little disgusted with Coldplay. Went to their concert many years ago and it was fantastic. Went to another one during Covid times (it was his first concert after things opened up), and paid $750/ticket for mediocre seats. I’m embarrassed to admit that, but I got caught up in it all. Chris Martin gave an hour long concert and left the stage. Zero encore, people were clapping and screaming for him and they just turned the lights up bright and started sweeping the floor. We were all kind of shocked.
I love to dance. You know that saying, “Dance like no one is watching”? Well, everyone is watching all the time now so I don’t dance like I used to, both in style and frequency. It’s kind of a shame. But I don’t want to be a Glamour “don’t” on TikTok for the world’s amusement.
I think it was an outlier, it was his first one after the long Covid break, and maybe he was tired. But honestly, no encore and turn on the lights after an hour? Not good.
I agree, but my question is why we care so much about the personal lives of two strangers. Why are we so amused by them getting caught? Most see affairs as morally wrong because of the harm to the spouse and family, but in this case, few seem to care about them. They didn’t ask for this, yet their private marital and family issues are turned into public entertainment. I can’t imagine what they’re going through and it all feels a bit cringey.
I am not sure that people “care so much” … it is the fact that a CEO and his Human Resource Officer, (arguably smart people), would have that much hubris and disregard for their families to openly flaunt their relationship and the company that employs them. And when was the last time you saw the spectacle of them ducking out of the way? I have been to lots of events with Kiss Cams and their behavior at being spotted was a first. Affairs happen all.the.time. BUT this was really beyond in my opinion.
I am very sorry for their families and the glaring spotlight. Definitely a compounded embarrassment.
Wow! That stinks. We were at the kiss cam concert. Tix were $85 (granted nosebleeds bc my dd’s boyfriend was losing seats right and left when he was buying) but I don’t think any were over $200. And they played for 2.5 hours.
Wow, I went to the Dallas show in May 22 just after Covid, my ticket was $60 and some in the back were $20. It was an amazing show. I’m sorry you had a different experience.
We must be reading/seeing different things because I’ve seen plenty of caring and concern for their families - right on this thread there were mentions of “how horrible for the children” .
Things have died down somewhat in my feed less than a week post event. It will fade. What will not fade is that they got caught and to me, the guy was extra jerky as he quickly
Hid himself (reminding me of how little children play hide and seek - they actually can still be seen!) and left his babe standing alone in that camera frame.
I hear what you are saying and I know that some people have expressed genuine concern for the family, but from my perspective, the dominant comments still feel more like entertainment than empathy. The memes, the jokes, the speculation all contribute to the humiliation for the spouse and kids.
Saying “how awful for the family” while still sharing or engaging with the content that fuels the frenzy feels like a contradiction.
I agree the guy is a jerk, but he’s a jerk whose morals don’t affect me or my family. There are amoral people elected to lead and they affect us a great deal. I don’t get the outrage and judgement this video caused in relation to that.
It’s possible to care about multiple issues going on in the world at the same time. Most people don’t actually care about this couple but the fact that this news story is one of the rare ones lately that won’t negatively affect 99.9% of the population, is what makes it so clickable. We can all take a collective sigh of relief that this particular news story won’t keep us up at night.
I agree that this story has gone beyond what it should, and the memes are no doubt hurtful to the wife and kids who are involved, and that’s not something to take lightly. But all of it was caused by the man & woman who engaged in the affair and the hubris they exhibited by expressing it in public.
IMO, with Hollywood and pro sports taking the lead, adultery has become more and more of an accepted practice in our society, with many just shrugging their shoulders and those who engage in it, not having to face much scrutiny or consequences. Seeing this privileged, wealthy couple face public consequences may be very satisfying to those who still believe adultery is immoral.
