A boy from my daughter’s studio just got a call today from PACE. He auditioned at the last date (I think it was 2/28).
DS got the call yesterday from Pace, ACCEPTED!!! Now we are still waiting for a few more school but this is a huge domino!
@NevrMynd51 congrats!!! So happy for you both! We’re still waiting on Pace over here!
@gmfalv If my DS got in, your DD is a shoe in! Have you guys heard back from NYU?
@NevrMynd51 Congratulations!!! My friend’s daughter is waiting for a call from Pace for commercial dance. Some applicants for musical theater got calls yesterday like your son. She hasn’t heard anything. Do you know if commercial dance applicants got calls too?
@NevrMynd51 Congratulations! An acceptance into any of these selective programs is an amazing accomplishment. I think I recall reading your DS was at the LA audition…so was my DD. We are still waiting and it’s torture! My DD broke down and called this morning. For whatever it’s worth (I’m not sure how much to trust) but they said not all calls have went out and to keep an eye on email and portal as well. ??
@mom2jw @shepmom4 Commercial dance calls have started as that was my S’s major. And @shepmom4 one of my DS friends from his studio auditioned as well and was told that call would be going out all month, grain of salt I suppose.
Congrats everyone! @NevrMynd51 congratulations on your DS acceptance to Pace!! Good luck to everyone as the wait continues!!
@weathergirl10 Thanks so much! Has your DD made her decision yet?
Congratulations @NevrMynd51
@Undercovermom1 Thank you so much! The stress is still super high, awaiting answers from a few other schools including top choice! Please pray for us, lol!
DD got an update to her Pace portal today…she is waitlisted. Auditioned in LA and held for interview. Pace is still her top choice. Anyone know from experience or past research if there is any chance of getting off waitlist?
@shepmom4 I am no expert, but my understanding is that at Pace if you are waitlisted, it means you are an alternate for a specific person who fills a similar niche in the program that you do. So if they say no, you get in.
correct
@shepmom4 Depending on what we hear from my DS’s top choice schools there is going to be at least 1 spot opening up. Also, we heard from Fordham and it is our, and yes for all of us parents we know it is “our”, first rejection.
Wasn’t really a good fit for him and he wasn’t really bummed about it anyway. But there is always a little bit of a sting when you get that “I regret to inform you…” Anyhow, I hope your DD gets into her top choice school as I pray for all of our kids!
Anyone else waiting on USC Kaufman?
Hello everyone,
Please bear with my post
since I don’t know where to post this.
My daughter who is a senior this year is awaiting decisions from multiple colleges for Premed although she is a dancer.
My question is for my son who is going to be a freshman this fall. He has been dancing since he was 5 and he does ballet, contemporary, hip hop, modern, jazz, bollywood so pretty much every genre
He is not looking to pursue dance as a major in college or as a profession (for now). He is very bright academically and we are asians (for demographics).
He dances for almost 20 hrs a week plus conventions and competitions.
We are planning to use his dance talent as his strong extra curricular to help him get into really competitive (possibly Ivy) colleges since he may stand out as a male (and minority) dancer with good grades.
Is that thought process correct? Is it fair to assume that he is going to stand out for good colleges? He may even pursue dance as a minor if he gets into good programs.
Sorry long post… feel free to direct me to any other forum if this doesn’t belong here.
Thanks in advance for any of your thoughts and suggestions.
@dancemajor23 Yeah we are waiting as well. They probably have the most to offer our dancers as far as a dance program goes, private school go figure! But we were told that decisions would be going out on April 1st. Did you hear the same thing?
@dancemajor23 , yep, DD is waiting for Kaufman.
April 1st was mentioned, I forget it it was “the” day, or before the 1st.
@kush22 you are of course welcome here, but most of us have kids who are choosing dance as a major and profession, so I don’t know how much we can speak to the value of dance as an extracurricular activity.
