I agree health is huge issue, plus I don’t think he’s a good coach.
What a crazy 24 hours for Michigan and so close to the Citrus Bowl.
And then there’s this lesson from Nick Saban:
I know this quote. These headlines are such clickbait! lol
Not a big fan of people who had criminal charges and sat in jail - and yes, not guilty.
Should being drunk in college screw you for life? No
But if you’re Michigan and need the ultimate in clean sheet, maybe it should.
So I’m a heck no to Tommy Rees.
Deion was good for Colorado for the first 2 years. He made football exciting. He attracted a lot of applications to the school, he was popular with local businesses, he made his athletes got to classes (except his own sons who took everything on line so they could go to Vegas and Paris). Michigan doesn’t need any of that. Deion brought a lot of his NFL friends in, as well are rock starts and Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN games day, bringing lots of money to Boulder. Again, Michigan doesn’t need that.
Yikes, I was looking more at his record. Knew he was thought of as a jerk but didn’t know about the other stuff….guess I could have looked first, huh? ![]()
This article is complete fantasyland-level of the coaching carousel.
Brian Kelley to Michigan may not be an option if the current Notre Dame football coach gets hired by the NFL’s New York Giants. (Intended to be humorous as it is unlikely that ND would rehire Brian Kelley.)
Kyle Whittingham retired at Utah. 66.
Michigan could do a lot worse. He’s a great coach. Doubt he’s interested but….
I’m a bit miffed with UM. They fired the coach. I get it. But they are also publicly trashing him. How about a little empathy and support.
He’s a human being as are those in his inner circle.
I have lots of respect for Kyle Whittingham. His dedication and success at Utah (21 years as head coach) is admirable.
Especially considering that apparently his affair was not exactly a secret … and the school allowed him to give her a huge raise (when that isn’t how things work at Michigan’s public universities). They were more than willing to look the other way because winning is everything … until something happened that they could no longer ignore (I won’t share the gossip). Only then did they suddenly decide that he was involved in an inappropriate relationship and needed immediate firing. The school needs to get its own house in order if they hope to hire someone who doesn’t have baggage.
The night the news broke, I watched a podcast on YT with a journalist who said that the rumors had been around for months and that after each Michigan loss the rumor mill would heat up and people would reach out to him. He didn’t report anything each time, because it was speculation at that point and felt like the timing of the rumors was orchestrated to oust Moore.
I read a good analysis from a Detroit sports reporter, who follows the team & was in court yesterday . He indicated that the relationship had been well known, and people just ignored it. The woman broke things off, though, and Moore did not take it well. She went to the administration, and they had no choice but to deal with it at that point. That’s when Moore lost it (the reporter noted that he was considered by some to be “fragile”). Bottom line, as I mentioned earlier, the university needs to make big changes internally.
This is what makes me wonder if more jobs are at risk. Including the AD. I doubt the only one who had to approve the doubling of the women’s salary was Moore. And if the AD or anyone else knew about this relationship and did nothing, they deserve to go too. I also believe that unsavory things continue to happen in many big sports schools, this is far from an isolated case.
According to published news reports, the University of Michigan administration became aware of the inappropriate relations allegation in September–several months before the firing which occurred just after national letter of intent signing day for recruits.
His assistant’s pay jumped by about 70% (from $58,000 per year to $99,000 per year).
If I’m not mistaken, that AD is the same one who was AD during all the other recent scandals. Def needs to go,
Seems this is the way Michigan works. Why fire one person when you can dump a whole program (especially the little guys). Harbaugh certainly had no problem asking junior coaches and trainers to do a little spying and then throwing them under the bus. (I’m not a big Harbaugh fan).
this is the story that keeps giving. Apparently he slid into an OnlyFans’ ‘model’s’ DM within HOURS of being released. And he offered another OnlyFans ‘model’ season tickets for a foursome after the National Champ 2 years ago.
There is raging debate about whether this is an attractive job (“its Michigan”, Ellison/Portnoy $$) or toxic (interim president, multiple legal issues with coaches).
Wonder if the AD is feeling a little heat? If not, he should be.
