College football '25 season thread

Well, he’s certainly getting abused right now in the third quarter. 34-7

Make that 41-7. Mass exodus from the NC fans.

oh, yeah - Billy B had Tom Brady. Without him, he was just pedestrian. I don’t see this ending up well and eventually, the 24 year old will hook up with a 28 year old and he’ll be embarrassed - and leave her or vice versa - with a multi million dollar payoff.

At least that’s my prognostication.

honestly I am not disappointed that UNC lost. I don’t like that they hired Belichick. UNC coaches are usually (though not always) pretty ethical nice people who put the players first before winning and then they usually win. Dean Smith is the prime example, but also Roy Williams and Hubert Davis. I’m not a big football fan but I think Mack Brown is a pretty nice guy. Belichick is a nasty piece of work. I don’t know that much about him beyond his Super Bowl wins and his 24 year old girlfriend, but the 24 year old girlfriend is enough. He just doesn’t fit with UNC. His way is not the Carolina Way.

In short, they went backwards from Mack - I thought this b4 they hired him.

$10 mil - he couldn’t land a job and they gave him $10 mil.

Dang - time for a new AD.

Glad to see Mack getting so much love :sign_of_the_horns:

I loved seeing how the announcers changed their tunes heading into the 2nd half. All of a sudden it was “well, TCU is really experienced; we knew this would be a process for Belichick; UNC has so many new players…”

This after all the fawning they did in pregame. Go Frogs!!!

he is so overrated. goat talk is so hilarious. he didn’t win b4 or after brady. his off field decision making is so off too. at least the gf admits what she is.

Here in NE Belichick burned bridges going out the door, and the Krafts weren’t very kind either.

Bill’s way worked until it didn’t, and he was reluctant to change, even thought it was obvious that nothing was working. The Cam Newton year was a mess, as was the year with no OC or DC, just fired head coaches from other teams (Judge and Patricia) running the show.

Another nice win for the Big 12

The commissioner of the Big 12 is one to watch. He’s masterful.

I think he’s an ass

I don’t know him personally but their profile and standing has skyrocketed under his watch, IMHO.

UNC is getting a new AD – from NASCAR!!?!

I think UNC’s Duke business boy chancellor Lee Roberts is making some bad calls. UNC is under the thumb of the Republican NC Legislature who turned the UNC Board of Governors from academic folks to a bunch of political appointees. They appointed the BOG members who appointed Lee Roberts, who had no academic experience besides going to Duke. Oh, and his mama was Cokie Roberts.

Overall not the best past few years for UNC and not a great direction forward either.

Such an embarrassment that UNC hired this guy.

I guess no publicity is bad publicity

Pretty sure Cokie is a Democrate (not announcing because she’s a journalist but she was too centered to be a Republican - or at least that’s my take). But yes, NC legislature did to their public colleges what Georgia has done to ours - insert itself into the Board overseeing higher education and getting rid of anyone not aligned with their views.

So much fun!…. Just checking back in. Was on a road trip

.

I think the whole Bill Belichick experience at UNC will be short-lived. He’ll either get fired or he’ll move on.

Honestly, I feel bad for UNC on one hand and then OTH, they hired the guy. They must have known it was going to be an odd “marriage.”

Lee Roberts served under one-term Republican Governor of NC, Pat McCrory. He’s a Republican appointee by a Republican BoG. Cokie is dead, but her parents were Democrats in the South when that did not mean the same thing as Democrats in the North.

Anyway, I think UNC and Lee made a bad call to hire Belichick. I don’t think he will last too much longer. He’s 72! He brought his son with him, though, and there was some speculation that was to basically set him up as his successor at UNC. I hope not!
