College of Charleston EA Class of 2024 Honors

@Beau12 My D has not heard yet. She applied EA and to honors. I never saw her portal before, but there is a big Welcome to Charleston banner, but we couldn’t see anything that said a decision has been made. So I’m assuming the banner was there before. I can’t ask her to check again, it stresses her out!!?

@CTCape have you heard anything?

@mamawitch Okay, I hope this alleviates some of the stress, but I called the Honors College today (good thing I haven’t told them my name yet, they seem a little annoyed that they’re getting repeated calls lol) and I asked about the people who applied to the honors college, heard back early and what this meant.

They were a little vague with their response, but they said that people who found out early potentially got into the interview weekend (totally separate, scholarship opportunity, has nothing to do with admission). Not finding out early does not mean you didn’t get in! For many, the decision will be released by Jan. 15th, just like the website said. At least, that’s what I got from the call. They waffled a bit. But I guess they just didn’t want to spoil the surprise

@mamawitch Nothing yet! DS started working on the scholarship application this week. I think I’m more anxious than he is.

Thanks @wildem613 and @CTCape Sometimes these sites are great but other times I think they create more stress!! We will just wait until Jan ?

Check your email honors applicants!!! I just got the invitation to the interview weekend!

my DS is oos. We have heard nothing. He is not applying to the Honors College

My son was accepted EA 12/17 with $21k/yr merit. He is OOS (La) and intended major is marine bio. He received the Honors College acceptance 12/19 with the invitation to the Honors College weekend. CofC is his first choice, so he is very excited.

I applied Honors as a high stat applicant from nj w a 1500 sat (not superscored) and a 97/100 unweighted qpa after going down to Charleston to interview with an honors student and having an interview in the city with a Charleston rep and I still have not heard anything back. I also applied a few days before the deadline.

Weird question—So, my son applied EA, and both his regular and honors college apps were complete by the deadline. At one point about a month ago, he said the portal changed. It said his app was 100% complete by the end of October, but he said the deadline date listed right beneath that hanged from the EA deadline to Feb 15. It made him nervous that he got moved to the RD pool, so he emailed his AO to inquire, and was told that this was strange and not to worry. We know EA applicants aren’t supposed to hear until Mid-Jan, so I guess we will just have to wait. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else’s portal?

Mine did this too after I submitted my application. I’m concerned about that as well.

@led352 Ok, glad he’s not alone. I didn’t call the AO for him because I felt it was important that he handle the inquiry on his own, but the response was reassuring. He submitted his departmental scholarship application today, so maybe I’ll suggest that he follow up before the new year just to confirm that he’s all set for EA consideration. Trying not to transfer my anxiety to him, but I feel like this one is time sensitive for us. It’s the only one he’s applied to that we will considering buying plane tickets to visit, but if we don’t find out until February, it may not be possible.

My daughter applied EA Honors and after reading this thread, I encouraged her to check her portal. There is nothing posted about a decision regarding her status. There is a departmental scholarship application for her to fill out, but she never got an email notification to do so like some others. Wondering what is the deadline for her to submit this application?

@Photogmom02 I believe the deadline is 1/15. If you scroll down on the portal I think it says it someplace.

anyone know when the next wave of ea releases might be? and just confirming, the ones released thus far are people invited to the interview weekend? and honors applicants that did not hear back yet were not invited to the interview weekend?

@user_463196 It appears the first wave of acceptances came on 12/17 and the majority of those students were awarded scholarships or had applied to the honors college and were invited to the interview weekend. Don’t know if you are honors or not, but there is also another thread for EA applicants (non honors), that might be helpful.

Son instate received the burgundy envelope today. He was notified 12/17 on the portal .It confirms acceptance to the college and 16k scholarship but does not mention of the Honors college yet

@user_463196, my daughter received her acceptance on 12/17. In-state, did not apply to honors college, no merit.

I applied EA Honors, but I never received the confirmation email I was told would be sent when they received all my materials. I submitted everything I could on time. I was just waiting to make sure they had received my transcripts from my guidance counselor, but I never received any confirmation. Should I be concerned?

@led352, does your naviance account or your schools equivalent of naviance say that your transcripts were submitted? if they were shown as submitted on your end the school likely has them and hasn’t processed it in their computer system so you should email the office of admissions to tell them for you it says they were sent

Departmental scholarships are not only for Honors students.
