Columbia Transfer Fall 2020 WAITLIST

@andyjjohnson34 I didn’t get an email from Columbia either. I don’t think we’re supposed to? But yea I guess we can email them to confirm

@andyjjohnson34 I emailed ugrad-transfer@columbia.edu, and they said that ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu is the correct email address to send your transcript to

I sent my transcript to ugrad-transfer@columbia.edu. I just emailed them to make sure they got my transcript and they quickly replied saying yes

So… are we getting an email today?

Well they did say no earlier than June 1st and no later than June 30th so I suspect it’ll be a while.

Do you guys think there’s a chance considering COVID might affect enrollment numbers?

i hope so

I think we may have a slightly higher chance this year because enrollment numbers might go down. The only downside I see though is that Columbia’s housing is trying to do private rooms and I don’t know if they would have a lot of extra space. I’m sure that they’re trying not to overfill the rooms. Hopefully they have the space and more of us get accepted.

I think they only accepted 0-2 kids off the waitlist the past few years

@sugmanotation where did you get that info from?

Another factor: Columbia has canceled study abroad programs for the fall. These students will be back on campus this fall, reducing available dorm space.

Anyone got any news recently? Do you all think we will be notified in the next few days or more towards the end of the month?

It sucks, but I think we’ll just have to wait this one out. Considering the uncertainty of in-person classes in the fall due to COVID, I feel waitlist acceptances will take even longer to determine as some students are waiting to matriculate or defer enrollment depending on whether or not colleges open their campuses.

I think we may hear back by the end of this month.

In previous years they heard back around June 19th or so

From previous threads, it seems that no one was taken off waitlist the past two years.

However, COVID is a true wildcard. I don’t understand why they took so long last year just to say that no to waitlist kids.

Here are some things relating to waitlist specifically this year (albeit they don’t talk about transfer waitlists).

Here’s one from a prominent YouTube college counselor:

Another from a famous NYU professor:

There’s literally just no way to know right now, especially because no one is talking about transfer waitlists specifically.

@nickvader7 remember that not everyone on the waitlist is on college confidential. Plus people who are admitted off the waitlist might not actually say it. Like you said it’s really hard to predict how many people will get off the waitlist or not.

Will there be a wave today? Considering that they usually release decisions on fridays?
