You transferred to Columbia with a 1.79?
What is your sat/HS GPA?
@jazziscool I go to Notre Dame! Where else are you applying? Iām applying to Columbia, Barnard, NYU, Northwestern, Georgetown, Vanderbilt
@jk6321 @Transfercoll96 from past threads it seems like all the accepted rising sophomores have perfect college GPAs and SATs though.
@weuburu Nope. I was attending Dartmouth College (1.79 GPA), and then I transferred to community college (3.88). Now I am hoping to transfer to Columbia.
@westvillagelover if you go to Notre Dame and have anything above a 3.5, I would say that is pretty impressive. It sounds like you and I are very similar, setting standards that are way too high. I am going to say that I try really hard to achieve the best I can, but sometimes I do wonder if I am going to regret one day for caring too much about statistics. At the end of the day, I do not think it matters as much as people make it out to be. I see you are applying to NYU as well. I am currently here and if you are here to look for great opportunities, I would say it is a perfect place to come, but if you are looking to be educated and challenged with enlightening ideologies, I would say NYU is not the best place to look unless you are going for certain schools within NYU such as Stern, Tisch, or even taking a pre-med track.
@westvillagelover WOW thatās awesome. Iām applying to Columbia, NYU, Northwestern, USC, Princeton, UChicago, Yale, Harvard, UPenn, and Stanford. Iām currently a first-year at a California community college. Iām really excited because I had a 2.9 in high school cuz I literally didnāt care about school, but I have 4.0 now so Iām hoping I get accepted into at least one of these schools.
@jk6321 Oh wow really? Iām an international student from Asia and Iām planning to apply for MCC at NYU. I was always under the impression that NYU was as intellectually challenging as at least Notre Dame. Why do you think that itās not? I agree with you though, I think I care too much about stats ahah. Not that this should matter, but I just think itās interesting that on an international level, NYU generates much more of a reaction within people than Notre Dame.
@jazziscool Oh cool! Thatās really awesome, whatās your SAT if you donāt mind me asking?
@westvillagelover itās definitely challenging, but only to the point where you have to put in the work to get an A if that is what you are looking for. I have not had a class where I put 100% effort and not get the grades that I had set out for. But as far as caring too much about stats, I am on the same boat as you But like I said before, the opportunities here are great: I was able to work at a law firm as an undergraduate which I would say is pretty rare outside of Manhattan, with professors offering internships, or even getting a lab assistant position.
@westvillagelover Iām applying to MCC too! SAT is pretty bad because I took it in high school and did not study at all. I got a 1260. Also, even though Notre Dame is ranked a little higher than NYU, I still think NYU is a better school just because of the fact that itās in one of the major cities of the world. There is way more opportunity and experiences at NYU compared to Notre Dame. Virtually everyone NYU student gets an amazing internship. It being in New York really enhances its level.
@westvillagelover hey! i just saw your comment lol. Iām also applying to Georgetown!
@childishlandino nice!! what are you applying for? Iām applying for marketing at gtown
@westvillagelover iām applying for political economy at gtown college!
Hey guys, for the āwrite the name(s) of the members of the Columbia University community with whom you have conferredā will they actually ask? I spoke to people when applying in high school but thereās been more than a year now haha
hiii - im back here on the forum - been a last few crazy weeks. hope everyone is doing well.
ANY community college students trying to transfer? HMU!
@heyigotnoclue Hey! Iām a community college student! Havenāt submitted my application yet tho lol
Hi guys, for the transfer report and curriculum report, did you all email them to ugrad-confirm@columbia.edu? I couldnāt find a place to attach them on the Coalition App so I just emailed it to that email.
Hi guys, does anybody know do we have a portal to check our application status? How do we know that our materials are received by Columbia?
Does Columbia change the deadline this year? On Coalition it says the deadline is 3/5 instead of 3/1?!? But on their transfer admission site says the deadline is 3/1
