Reason: First semester and second semester within supplemental housing with 5 other people, horrible living conditions, there is a rat in here somewhere… One of my roomies is a kleptomaniac who has stole things from me and other people repeatedly, and I haven’t found $200 dollars recently stolen from me. Roomies get drunk and do drugs daily and prevents a good living environment… no sleep, bad smells, vomit and other unknown fluids… Cops keep busting my roomies and I get in trouble since I live in the room too but I cant transfer rooms since none are available…

Reason for low grade in Compsc 203 class, professor was brand new and couldn’t teach her way out of a kindergarten class… After only 1 semester, she doesn’t teach anymore go figure… Everyone dropped at least 2 grades in her class, including me, who had an “A” in the class for 75% of the semester until the professor screwed up the class’s online site making students have to REDO 2 WEEKS OF WORK DURING FINALS… She even gave me a late grade for one of the assignments I returned in late even though I had it turned in a week ahead of time before she wiped the system… She did provide some extra credit but it didn’t do much… Every class was a walk out and students were getting frustrated with TEACHING HER how to use excel/access!

H.S. GPA decent
Very good public school in Miami
3.0uw/3.7w all honors/AP upward trend

HS EC’s- tons.

FBLA, TEAM PALMETTO, Defy it, Key Club, about 200 hours Community service… Side time I provided computer support on a few web forums and technical sites…
Built/maintained/repaired computers, I considered it a business.
Study abroad in Paris,France, studied international business and received a B+(I had an A but had to leave early to start senior year of school)

Other: Was diagnosed with A.D.D in elementary and struggled. I went from special class to Gifted class within 2 years in middle school. Was relatively poor when i was younger. Single parent family(mom), parents didn’t get alone, mom wasn’t around most of the time due to work, dad was traveling a lot, and drank all the time… Spent most my time with aunts/grandparents.

I can understand/speak French and Spanish.

Also, my step dad graduated from UMICH and would most certainly provide me with a REC.

Sounds like your living conditions are horrible - and of course, would have a very negative effect on your experience at PSU. Have you made friends that you can room with next year? Might make a huge difference.
With respect to professors, I would ask if all of your professors were sub-par. Every school has “clunkers”. Perhaps go to ratemyprofessors.com before you sign up for classes next time and try to pick those with good records.
I you really want to get out, think about if you will find a substantially different environment at a big state U (like Mich). Lots of partiers there too. Perhaps a small school is a better fit. Emory has a solid business program .Do you like the city? NYU, Boston U, Pitt, all are good reputable schools. Go online and do some research. Dickinson in PA, is very small, has a decent business program and an international focus. Like cold weather?- check out Syracuse U or Ithaca College. Cornell is too much of a reach I think. Good luck!

Can i even get considered with my stats at NYU?

I am trying to get into investment banking as well btw…

it’s a stretch but certainly worth a shot. The big name IBs recruit from the top schools (Wharton, Stanford, Cornell). You’ll have more luck at the boutique firms.
VERY tough business…long hours. Be ready to give up your life. Pay is good though…

I don’t mind working… I stay up all night and wake up really early all the time…

The father of one of my roomies is a prof and alum at PENN but i doubt ill get in anytime soon lol

I’m with toneranger–some of these problems could be resolved and Penn State could turn out to be the right fit for you–you didn’t talk about other things that might lead people to transfer. Of course, I can see wanting a fresh start, and there might be other factors you didn’t go into. But it might be worth considering whether staying would work once you got a new living situation (sounds like the bad teacher situation is already resolved)

I’m not sure what to do yet… I might just wait it out till next year and see what happens…

that B- in calc is going to hurt you, unless you pull like an A in calc 2 to make up for it.

It was a B+/A- before I had to redo 2 weeks of work for a class during finals study…
