Coolidge Scholarship 2020

And don’t forget there’s an essay to write on site. Also, the foundation wants to instruct candidates in the virtues and way of life of Coolidge; actual presence in Plymouth Notch must be crucial, as well as the camaraderie among the finalists.

What I wonder about is how is academic excellence to be sorted out among 3400 applicants. Standardized SAT subject and AP scores must matter a good deal.

@Camerafan I kind of doubt it about the SAT/AP scores… Considering the application pool is juniors, a decent number of them probably hadn’t taken the regular SAT/ACT, let alone the subject tests or AP tests when they’d applied. The PSAT is probably super important, though. And GPA as well.

Good luck on all of your AP exams &&& the Coolidge wait is almost over.

My guess is that those with SATs and AP’s would therefore stand out as juniors. Remember the video on the Foundation website the chairman mentions that the applicant pool had an impressive sum of APs?

@Camerafan That might be true, as Coolidge does seem pretty stats-reliant from what I’ve heard. Still, I hope it isn’t… It would majorly screw over all the kids who hadn’t gotten the chance to take those tests yet. Honestly, I really hope it’s true that the essays are the most important part of the application.

Yes, Hope essays count most!

New week & once week closer to finding out something … Any words or updates in your Coolidge portal . Nothing here …

Nothing here either. They’d communicate through phone or email anyway…most likely will hear something next week. The probability of them trying to contact finalists this week or last week was slim considering AP exams are occurring all day every day of the week; a finalist may not have been able to answer their phone call. I doubt that they’d try to contact anyone until they are all over, since most applicants are probably taking multiple exams.

Or we may just have to wait until June 1st. My father called yesterday and they said the notification date (6/1) is still the same despite COVID.

Does anyone have any idea if a call will be on a weekend or weekday?

Based on the thread form 2019 I think last year it was on a Tuesday!
@Camerafan

Does anyone want to join a Discord so we can just chat and pass the time between now and June 1? PM me and I can send you the link

Anyone who knows a past finalist might ask him/her whether Coolidge asked for official transcripts from school before the call. Knowing this might help us figure out if anyone of us has a chance, since the website says that schools of finalists will be asked to supply official transcripts.

Even if they did that last year I’m sure they’d be sensitive to requesting transcripts immediately considering all of the school closures. I know many school systems are prohibiting employees from even setting foot on the campus. Also, many colleges are refusing paper copies of final transcripts for admitted students at this time due to COVID-19.

Has anybody heard anything ???

No. Supposedly we’re down to 10 days or less of waiting.

I talked about Coolidge’s humility in my essay. Now I’m wondering if 3400 others deduced the same lesson…

Haven’t heard anything yet either
