It sure is better than a no!! We have 1 left, CMU so at least we don’t have to travel! Go have a drink!

A ‘wait list’ is good news, especially for the early applicants! Hoping you will receive not only an acceptance to COPA, but from her other schools as well. I view an early wait list notification much the same as a ‘priority hold’ from other schools. If COPA is one of the schools at the top of her list, it wouldn’t hurt to send a letter stating so. Good luck to you and your daughter!

Well, my report is that something has arrived in the mail finally… But she doesn’t want to know about/think about until after this full week of auditions. So, it remains unopened at home, taunting my H.

Seriously kategrizz?! You have nerves of steel in your family. Keep us posted~sending good energy your way. Good luck to your D in Chicago!

Final update! Home from the audition marathon, and she opened the long delayed letter to find an ACCEPTANCE! Whew!

Awesome news and a great ending to a busy week!! Congratulations to your daughter!

Congratulations to D and you kategrizz!!!

Congrats kategrizz!! Awesome news! Does anyone know how many are expected to be accepted?

Oh man. I can’t remember! D’s audition was in November! Too many auditions since then and they all run together!

And PS: thanks all!! I asked my husband if he had known all week while we were gone. His response: “The light wasn’t bright enough!” LOL

Point Park COPA usually accepts about 40 - 50 to yield 30 -40. This past year, I think they extended a few more than that, and ended up with 40 in MT class of 2017. Congrats everyone!

YAY, Kategrizz! I am very happy for you and your daughter. Is PPU her “selected” school?

I just went back and read the thread “Anybody heard, Class of 2017” and was reliving the stress of waiting for audition results. ahhhhhhhh

It’s definitely on the higher end of her list - but we will wait to hear from others before she makes her final decision.

I’m going to do a plug! If anyone is in the Point Park area this weekend, go to see BLOODY, BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON. Though I tend to enjoy more “traditional” musicals, BBAJ is very good. It is witty and VERY WELL PERFORMED.

Yep! Seeing it Friday night!! And the Conservatory Dance program has an amazing show on Saturday night that I’m going to catch too. :)

POPULISM, YEAH YEAH! Saw Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson last weekend. I too like traditional musicals, but I am also a rocker and BBAJ played more like a concert than a musical the night we were there, in a good way. The band is made up of COPA students and they rock, and they are really tight. No two ways about it. If the band comes off like a so-so local bar band, that will sink this show in a heartbeat. Not the case here. These kids play like seasoned pros. They kick butt. The energy was high. BBAJ is witty and irreverent, but it is definitely the music and song performances that drive the show. I was at Oklahoma! the night Shirley Jones was there and that energy was crazy high, but in a Rodgers & Hammerstein sort of way, if that makes sense. Seeing those two shows in the same season really shows the versatility of the COPA students.

I really hope that the students accepted to COPA pay close attention to past years of productions at PPU. This is not a program looking for cookie cutter kids. Everyone, from the rocker type to the lyric soprano will find their place here. It’s wonderful to see the how many opportunities there are for these kids stretch themselves. Add the drama productions and their range from classical theatre to modern farce and there really is something for everyone to experience and learn.

Does anyone know the turn over for Wait listed kids? Do they ever get accepted? Will they contacted the waitlist as others decline their spots? Or is it all at once? Any info is so appreciated!
