Cornell 2014 ED-ers!

And I’m sure this has been asked before, but I had a minor panic attack when a friend applying ED to American asked if I had printed/signed/sent my ED agreement. I talked to my guidance counselor and he said that Cornell did not require such a thing, but it still sends butterlfies swooping in my stomach every time I think of it. Is this true?

I’m a little paranoid, but then again, like the rest of us on here, there really is no other school for me.

They don’t want the ED agreement and they advise you not to send it on their website.

ISellHope - thanks! lol I hope everything works out =]

I just got my ApplicantID in my email this morning! Wooo! Their tracking service is still down, but it’s allll good. =]

Thanks for the response! And yes, I get a little flutter of hope every time Ienter my ApplicantID and password, although the serice has been down for a while.

Does anyone know how many people are flat out rejected during ED? I’m hoping for worst case senario defer to regular admissions. Do they just reject the hopeless students?

Remember guys, there are usually 3k students applying ED. And this year, probably 4k+, so there is plenty more competition out there than this board.

Can I get into Cornell
I’m a legacy
I applied Early Decision
My GPA is 3.5 at a private high school in Arizona, and I’m in the top 1/3 of my class.
100 % of grads go to 4 year colleges… 1/3 of the class goes to First Class Institutions…Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Duke, etc. 1/3 of the class goes to Second Tier Institutions… Washington University, Trinity, Tulane, Rice, UVA, etc. The bottom tier attends Univ of Colorado, ASU, Uof A, etc.
My SAT’s are M-800, CR-680, W-780, I only took them once. My SAT II 's are
Math level 2 - 780, English Lit - 800, and US History -780
I take all honors classes along with 2 foreign languages every year. I speak and read Mandarin, Latin (through IV), Greek, and Spanish.
I have lots of extra curriculur activities and am both a kick boxer and a harpist.
I have applied to the Arts and Science College in linguistics.
What are my chances?

I’m not sure how many are flat our rejected, but I know that they do just reject the “hopeless students” lol

I read somewhere on their website that if you apply early and you just don’t make the cut, they will send you a rejection letter stating that you will not be considered during regular admission.

How much would it suck to get one of those letters… -sigh-

We won’t get them, don’t worry. It’s only for those who have never heard of CC stats.

lol This waiting till December is SO nerve racking O_O
I keep finding myself on CC on the Cornell discussion boards… or on their website reading about random things and programs etc… or even a while ago, looking at how much it cost to do laundry.

You know some kids spend around a 100 - 300 bucks a semester on laundry?!

That’s okay, they have gorges there. Wash them there = free!

Yeah, I tend to go on Cornell’s site also & CC boards. Hope they update our application status’ soon. I need to know what I’m missing! It’s so annoying waiting… aem bound woot.

!@#@$~!%&

So much anxiety T_T

Not only are there a ton applying ED to Cornell, there are a TON applying to to AEM. -sigh-

I’m with you guys; I keep checking this board (hell, I’m even subscribed) and the Undergraduate Admissions page for any updated announcements. December please come soon?

November is such an ugly month

ILUxpssh, I’m with you. I keep seeing this one kid’s CC screen name EVERYWHERE. Like, he’s started at least 50 posts, and I think to myself, “This kid is nuts.” But then I realize that I am on CC just as much.

-double sigh-

I think I’ll just set the parental controls to block CC.

It’s natural, it shows you passion for Cornell University. Hopefully it’ll work out for most of us sooner or later…

AEM is way too competitive, heard speculation about them creating a new school @ Cornell for business majors. PURELY SPECULATIVE <>. At least I have some nice hooks in.

ahhh! It has to be unhealthy to be on CC this much.

I’ve even started youtube-ing cornell, lol

Are CAS and COE super competitive? I initially wanted to apply to COE as primary and CAS as alternate choice, however, I switched them around because I knew I’d want to take a lot of social-science classes outside of my major, and CAS would probably be a better fit

I hope everything works out; if not, I’ll be spending my entire winter break filling out applications for RD schools I’ve pushed off with hopes of getting into Cornell.

I’m not applying ED, but I am basically doing all the same stuff that you all are doing…
I super badly want to go to Cornell Hotel School…
Whenever I go on CC, I head straight for the Cornell forum.
I looked up all the FWS and decided which ones I would take if I went to Cornell (I want to take this one about Shakespeare and film, or one about food!)
I searched all the PE classes and really want to go backpacking around the finger lakes!
Whenever I talk about how things are going to be next year, I put everything in context of Cornell (like when shopping for clothes, I think about buying boots and snow coats. i think about working at the Statler when i consider getting a job. i think about eating collegetown bagels when i eat bagels. i think about thanksgiving and not flying home because ithaca is far away from my home…)
I have become Cornell-washed. Go BIG RED! :)

Been lurking here for a while… Applied to CALS ( environmental engineering).

I’d be really happy if I got into AEM…then I don’t have to do those RD apps ahhh. Where else are you AEM’ers applying if the unfortunate happens?

want to know what my regular decision chances are…
