Does anyone know how long it takes admissions to update your status once college board sends scores? My
OCT SAT was sent yesterday, but my status still says they have not received. Should I be concerned?
@penny47 it takes about a week or two. Scores don’t have be in by nov 1st so you’re fine
Thinking about how we get decisions dec 15th. They look over all of our applications within a month practically.
Does anyone know how Cornell views drops in scores? I just got my Oct 17th scores today and they are lower than the June ones in all fields except Writing. However, since I know Cornell does their own superscore thing, do they even consider how your scores went up or down over time, or do they just judge you based on the superscore profile they create themselves?
@ArthurDent42 If they superscore than I think by definition they look at highest scores from each section. I’m in the same boat. My CR and M scores went down a bit but W went up. Also I heard Cornell does not really care about the W score.
@ArthurDent42 They do not consider writing at all.
yay.
@NICE8x Well crap because my best score is in writing and my worst is in math…my reading is good though…how does a 690 in math look for someone who will be majoring in a heavily math based field? ugh…this stupid test makes me look like an idiot in math because it’s ridden with so many chances for arithmetic error…stupid college board!!!
@ArthurDent42 do you have other good math scores (AMC, AP tests, SAT II, etc) that might make up for the SAT I math score? If it’s just that and you have other math achievements they’ll probably overlook it
I got a 770 on Math Level 2 for subject tests, and yet I can’t get the SAT 1 math section like I want it…so yes, I hope they overlook it…I am taking bc calc, took ab last year, took ap physics 1 and 2 last year, and physics c mech and em this year…maybe that will help? these stupid tests…I don’t know why colleges even look at them, how can anyone be expected to do super good on a test that’s administered early saturday morning following a week of school…the fact I’ve taken the hardest math based classes at my school should make my sat 1 math score obsolete, but god knows the admissions officers won’t see it that way…
@ArthurDent42 Wow I’m in the same boat…my writing score is super high (790) while my math 1 is the same as my math ii subject test which is ridiculous (710). I too am taking the most rigorous math courses at school and doing very well in them (at our school you can only take bc calc senior year so im doing that). I too want to study math (statistics). So I completely relate. I hope they will see my high grades and the fact I got the same score on the hardest math subject test and overlook the regular math sat. Like you said you make a few silly mistakes and it drops your score significantly. But look at Class 2019 sat score ranges and feel more at ease. Not everyone at Cornell has perfect SATs. Whatever…what happens happens.
Reminder that writing scores are not considered by Cornell…
I just found that out yesterday.
I’m so worried about this. I think i’m a decently solid applicant (average SAT score, won some pretty decent awards). But I have a crap GPA (3.62/4). I’m hoping my rigorous curriculum will help them overlook this (all AP, IB, or college level courses since beginning of Jr year. Several high level courses before then)
I think they count for the ACT though
@Gatortristan That’s what i orignially thought, then when i read the Cornell FAQ it said
Can anyone confirm?
Does anyone know how long it takes for ACT to send our scores from the september test? I already got my full scores with writing and all I need to do is send them. Will they be in by nov1?
FedEx screwed up which flight my architecture portfolio was supposed to be sent on!!! They sent it today instead of yesterday, I seriously hope it reaches on time, that’s months and months of work right there and my online portfolio looks nowhere near as nice as the bound physical book I made. arrghh and the portfolio is what carries the most weight in my application
hoping and praying…
rip
I was looking over my September ACT score report and it said my intended major was biology… In my essay I said human development has been my interest for years. R.I.P.
Do you guys think my SAT Biology subject test will be received in time? I just sent the Biology subject test this morning. Also, I didn’t rush it. I’m nervous since collegeboard just sent me an email today saying how scores could be delayed…
@holi47 I think schools say not to use priority sending but that might be only for ACT idk
