Cornell Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion

@ArthurDent42 hmm fair point…unfortunately I’ve submitted it already :stuck_out_tongue: ahh well I guess they’ll see it all in my transcript… Anyway @Geocach I guess submit unweighted actually

@arulster I think as long as they have your transcript they should be able to find your unweighted gpa, so you should be good. Heck, now that I think about it, if they have your transcript, then what you put on the common app, unweighted or weighted, won’t matter, because they probably ignore that part of the app and get your gpa from your transcript. Never mind then, lol!

@ArthurDent42 Seeing my actual gpa, is unweighted a better idea at 3.88 vs 4.25 at weighted?

My UW gpa is lower and i didn’t wan5t to bring more attention to it than already on transcripts so I put my W too. lol

So guys: if I’m only submitting my Oct ACT which hasn’t been released yet should I put a note on the additional info section saying that my scores will be submitted when they’re released?

@Geocach A 3.88 GPA is a great unweighted gpa, yeah, put it on there!! If you look at the “Official Cornell ED Class of 2019 Results ONLY” thread, many of those accepted had a lower or comparable gpa. Nothin’ bad about a 3.88!!! Just make sure you indicate it as “unweighted” (if you put “weighted” by accident, that would be REALLY bad…)!!

BRB just sending a picture of myself in my shrine to Cornell to adcoms
…and maybe an extra $50

@Gatortristan I emailed Cornell and told them that my scores for SAT would be late because the Oct 3rd SAT that I planned to take was delayed to Oct 17th, so my scores almost ended up being late (luckily the college board graded them quicker than expected and I got to send them before today). When I emailed them they said it would be okay if I had to send my scores after Nov 1st, and that all test scores just had to be in near the deadline. I’d think you’ll be fine, although put a note on your app if you feel necessary. After I got my Cornell AppID and logged in on the Cornell website, I read that you get a second chance to submit your stuff (anything that’s missing) mid-November.

Thank god!!! @ArthurDent42 On the phone they said they’ll take any scores taken before Nov 1st but i was just curious on where to tell them i took a test but i don’t have scores yet. They said they don’t look at applications until they’re complete

can someone look at my chance thread and tell me if I’m delusional or actually have a chance?

@ArthurDent42 Thanks! Yea my ACT score is only 29, but my essays are great and I’m applying to CALS. I live in the country so I think it would be a great fit. Does the ACT score kill my chances?

@Geocach I don’t know, I took the SAT and don’t know how to covert ACT scores to something I can recognize (ie SAT scores).

@ArthurDent42

29 ACT is around a 1950 SAT.

@Geocach

No, it doesn’t. But that’s going to be very difficult to get over.

What I like about Cornell, or should I say, the “Official Cornell ED Class of 2019 Results ONLY” thread, is that it’s pretty obvious when looking at past applicants why some weren’t accepted. They either applied to a school that didn’t match the passion exhibited in their application, or had some obvious thing on their app that killed their chances (very low sat score, or no ap classes taken, or very few extracurriculars, you get the idea). The other ivies and the “fake” ivies (ie Stanford, MIT, Caltech, etc) will downright reject perfect applicants, even though their apps are perfect. Cornell, from what I’ve seen in the results threads, seems to deny applicants for obvious or justifiable reasons, a good exception to the unpredictable-ivy-acceptance rule.

Augh, I gotta stop torturing myself. I don’t wanna get my hopes up and then be crushed mid-december.

Who applied ED for Cornell Human Ecology?

ME!!! @seniorlife555

I heard from a woman at a college fair representing cornell (she was from human ecology) that they like when guys apply because not many do lol may not be true but I’m believing what anyone says to boost my confidence

Well, just submitted everything in. The wait is going to kill me though…

Cool! @Gatortristan
I applied to Human Ecology too :slight_smile:

I feel like human ec is a lot smaller so everyone ends up being friends. that’s going to help when I’m failing out lmao
