Cornell Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion

One B-/C+ is not going to matter. Try to relax and have a good senior year.

@struggleissoreal You are accepted and just need to pass you classes and send Cornell your final transcript. Your acceptance will not be rescinded unless you are failing. I always recommend that you take as many AP credits as possible that will be accepted by your school at Cornell. The extra AP credits help when you may need to possibly drop a class or want to study abroad. Congrats and enjoy the rest of your senior year.

@leothelion2001 I like soup. Especially the new Star Wars soup. Gosh, all those little shapes…R2D2, C3PO, Darth Vader, Yoda…yes will do!!!

@oldfort thanks :slight_smile:

how long does it usually take for the finaid office to get back to us if we have just finished submitting all required parts of the finaid application?

also, if i enroll now, will they probably be unbudging about adjustments to their finaid package? since they’re sure i’m attending, i mean. would they be harsh with the numbers?

asdgbzdnf i want my cornell email lol

also

slartibartfast

@chootimes i think we get our cornell emails in april

oh hey you’re CoE too arent you

@awakentrance oh dang i was misled and i thought we get it when we enroll lmao oops

yeah !!
what major did you write on yr app?

@chootimes yeah on the letter i got it said something like “In April you’ll get your cornell email blah blah bla”

and i wrote compsci LOL what about you?

For all who got accepted, now is the time to make your hotel reservation for the move in day and parents weekend. Those rooms go fast. The move in day is Fri, so most people get there Thu night and stay through Sat or Sun.

@oldfort, yes, so true. I also posted this same thought earlier on this thread.

A bit of advice for you students if you are going to book at the Statler Hotel on campus: you can’t do it online. Cornell blocks off those rooms for move in day and parents weekend, so it looks like everything is sold out if you go online. So you need to personally give the hotel a call and make a reservation that way. For move in day and parent’s weekend, they will ask for your name and cross check it with the admitted student list before they will let you book for those weekends. At least this is what they did for us last year.

@TiggyB62 @oldfort thanks! are there any other tips you guys can give to incoming freshmen? (is there a separate thread for this?)

@awakentrance ooooooohhh okay. april ;__; i shall wait lol

ahh same!! compsci in engineering :’))

@chootimes yay cs! can’t wait to meet you and the others in august

@awakentrance I’m also CS! Im in CAS though, but we will still take similar lessons together!

Should we start a secret group on facebook? It’s crazy how support we all have been so it’d be great if I can finally see what you guys look like instead of just your usernames :slight_smile:

@CornMine are you on cuonthehill?

@Tryharding just got approved this morning. So excited!

@cornmine pm your name and ill friend you :slight_smile:

@NewBigRed oh yes, tons of tips! Once the official Class of 2020 FB page is opened up by the CU ambassadors, there will be plenty of questions posted and all your questions will be answered by current ambassadors.

Here is one tip: bring a printer. Even though Cornell has printers all over campus, it’s so much easier to just have one in your dorm room. Also, you pay for every page you print on their network. There is no printing allowance :frowning:

Tip 2: if you are traveling from afar, you can use Big Red Shipping and Storage over the summer to ship all your dorm stuff, clothing etc. They will hold it for you and deliver it right to your dorm room and it will be in your room on move in day. Small fee to do this but well worth it. Instructions will come in the summer. Move in day is so hectic and in my daughter’s dorm (Balch), they only let you use the elevator one time. All other trips needed to be made on foot and she was on the fourth floor. So all of her big/bulky items we shipped via this service. It is a student run organization. They also will pack and hold stuff for you over the summer months, too.

Tip 3: Absolutely go to the Activity Fair. It takes place in early September. Don’t skip it. All the campus groups are there and you can sign up for what interests you.

has anyone gotten their t-shirt and sticket yet?
