@dprice386 - or maybe you can grow up and read the ED agreement you signed. Once you are 18 and off to college you will no longer have mommy or daddy to bail you out over some silly bets. Do you think Cornell’s adcom is really going to care when you tell them, “Just chill, I had a bet with a friend. I was never going to back out of ED. You clearly did not know the situation.”
You will be tempted with many options while in college. I hope you think hard before you make some not so good choices. If you didn’t know already, most employers do background check and drug test, even for internship. Many top tier finance and consulting firms require 3.5 GPA. This may all seem very far away to you, but it is less than a year away when you will be looking for your first internship.
@oldfort @dprice386 it is undoubtedly comforting and relieving for all students to see what colleges accept you and quantity may seem to have a certain value. That said, the ED agreement is there for a reason and while they may or may not find out about what other colleges accept you, it is truly out of your duty, honor and integrity that you cancel other apps. I know it is not pleasant losing hundreds of dollars on college apps to schools you’ve applied to, but you should know you already save a lot from not applying to RD schools. This is not to mention if you are accepted to other schools, you are taking spots from other students dying to study there. I’m sure dprice deserves to be accepted and is committed to Cornell but everyone (including yourself) will be thanking you for withdrawing all other apps
@dprice386 “having a bet with a friend” is not a recognized exception to the ED agreement… As an adult these colleges expect you to realize that the rules apply to you too.
does anyone know when the deadline is to submit supplemental information is for someone who got deferred?
its not until like the end of january or beginning of feb i think
There is no deadline for supplemental information (LORs, essay), but end of Jan/beginning of Feb is optimal. Ask your GC to send your midyear transcript as soon as it’s ready.
May the RD round treat all of us still in the game well
wait you can upload supplemental essay after the application deadline?
Hi, I have several questions for those that were admitted early:
We are required to fill out the FASFA and IDOC by February 15 using 2015 tax returns, correct? What if my parents don’t receive those until late February?
If you requested for the free T-shirt, did you get any confirmation saying that you requested one? The captcha thing (to confirm I’m human) doesn’t show up for me and i’m worried my e-mail is now on file several times.
Thank you!
bump for Indigoraccoon4’s question!
@Indigoraccoon4 yes, you can. But it is best to get them in by early febuary because they will start reviewing RD applications then.
@rhdhtai the college specific supplement? I went ahead and turned it in though
@Indigoraccoon4 oh. I thought you were talking about deferred people stuff. No that one should be turned in by the deadline.
Does anyone know what Admitted Students Day consists of? I’m from far away and would have state competitions around that time. Obviously college is more important to me than high school events but no need preparing if I have to be in New York then
Has everybody received their financial aid decision for the Early Decision yet?
Most ED students do not go to the Admitted Students Day. It is to convince accepted RD students to attend Cornell. You will learn everything about Cornell during the Orientation Week in August. It is also the biggest party week. The only week you get to party without any work to do.
@plsbenicepls I haven’t gotten mine yet =/
Does anyone know what the prefreshman summer program is for? I only know that you have to be invited to it. Is it for students who need to catch up or for students who are already ahead or something?
For those accepted, what does your financial aid to do list say when you’ve logged into your cornell web account?
If you guys do not receive your financial aid soon, you should email FA because you have to enroll by the end of the month and the fafsa information is due in February.
It says “No current to do item information found” on mine
