@DreamingKevin i emailed them yesterday and they sent me this
Thank you for your email and patience. We will need to complete our decision notification which will run through June.
Is it recommended to keep in touch with admissions if a decision hasn’t been yet (dyson)?
Thanks! I’m applying for CS. Hope we all get in!
I received my decision Wednesday May 30. And figured I’d post my stats to be helpful to future applicants because I know I looked a whole bunch at the stats of past applicants.
CAS - English major - Accepted
Transferring as an incoming sophomore
Last school: University of Hawaii at Manoa
College GPA: 4.0
Midterm GPA: probably a 3.9 because I had all As but 1 A-
Final Transcript: 4.0
—— if you’re in late May waiting to hear back, maybe send your final transcript (especially if it’s better than midterm report) before you get your decision. That’s what I did and I got my acceptance a week later. Also I’m not sure if it actually helped but I’d like to think it did lol
High school GPA - unweighted = 3.68, weighted = 4.21
I took 6 course per semester and ~3 of those in each semester were upper level (designed for college juniors/seniors)
College ECs
- Volunteer Program in association w the school
- National Society of Collegiate Scholars
- Golden Key international honor society
High school ECs
-NHS (2 years)
-Beta Club (2 years)
–both NHS and Beta required tons of volunteer work
-3 years of Latin club and secretary of it my Junior year
-3 years of varsity cheer
-Cheer captain my senior year
-Summer volunteer cheer coach for elementary school kids
-2 time dive champ for summer league (lol not sure if they cared about this but I put it just in case)
- Recommendation I had one really good recommendation from a professor that I got along with really well
SAT scores (new) - I don’t test very well so yikes #testanxiety
-highest reading - 650
-highest math - 570
AP scores
-English LIt - 4
Note you most likely won’t get credit for AP scores unless it’s a 5
Essay
-I’d like to think it’s pretty solid. I’m a decent writer. Basically just wrote about how I’ve loved reading/writing since I was young and how I enjoy writing essays in my AP English Lit. told them that I was interested in their honors english program and how I wanted to be apart of an English program that wasn’t put together as like an after thought.
-helpful essay tips: make sure you state how Cornell is the only place you can get what you’re looking for and be specific. Show them you’re a good person. Let your essay exemplify your love for learning.
I hope this helps someone and good luck to everyone!
Hi Everyone, I am new to this thread. My D was just offered the TO on Friday for Human Ecology. She has to register for classes today or tomorrow at the latest for the University of Pittsburgh. As of right now, there is no information on the TO sites they’ve given her access to that address AP exams in AP Biology and AP Psychology. She already has a 5 for Bio, and she could very well have a 5 on the Psych exam, but she won’t know until July. Her orientation at Pitt is coming up, so her online class registration needs to be done now.
As you know, an Intro. Bio with lab and and Intro. to Psych class are both on the required courses for her to take her freshman year at Pitt for a successful transfer. Does anyone have any information on this type of a situation who has had to deal with this already? I am going to have her call admissions after school today, but I thought I’d put this question out there.
Best of luck to all of you! Thanks.
Decision tmrw for SHA
Incoming sophomore planning to apply for spring transfer later this year. Thinking about applying to either AEM, ILR or PAM. Top choice is AEM but I’m not sure if I’m competitive enough for it so I might just apply for ILR or PAM since I’m interested in both fields. Would like to minor in Creative Writing or Communication
Stats
Current school: A national university in Asia
College GPA: 3.85
HS GPA: 3.7
Took around 5 courses per semester so far but they were mostly general electives; nothing too heavy (I did take an introductory Econ class but my grade could’ve been better because I got a B+)
ECs:
-Business organization that has a lot of events for underprivileged communities
-Habitat for Humanity
-student government volunteer
Internships:
-strong internships in high school at non-government organizations/start-ups
-thinking of interning with an environmental organization this summer
Still deciding if I should take the plunge and go for AEM AND also if it would be better to apply as a fall transfer next year. Any thoughts?
good luck @simonlee7. stil no pin for me. I think I see God and I graduate tomorrow for community college
@simonlee7 the pin trick worked?
Getting my decision tomorrow for AEM. Transcript says initiated but I have access to this and it says “welcome … “ https://transeval.cals.cornell.edu
Accepted AEM today. I can’t believe it actually happened
Congratulations @transfercam97 you deserve it. Mind asking what is your stats?
hey guys. Never made an account to not add to the mess of “chance me’s” or posting stats before receiving decisions:
Applied Dyson AEM (applied economics and management): Accepted
GPA: 3.81
Current college: Berkeley City College
Race: Latino
Sex: Male
Got a B in my intro to Business class, Calc 1, Calc 2, all of which are heavy major prerequisite classes.
-Despite the B’s I believe that it was my RECENT course load and performance in those classes that pulled through, with summer and fall being extremely intensive:
Summer 2017:
- History (pre 1965 3 units) - A
- Intro to Stat (4 units) - A
- Financial Accounting (4 units) - A
- English 5 (critical thinking - 3 Units) - A
-----------------------------------
14 units over the summer
-----------------------------------
Fall 2017: - Music appreciation (3 units)- A
- Posci (world problems - 3 units) - A
- Intro to Humanities (3 units) - A
- Women in Art History (3 Units) - A
- Managerial Accounting (4 units) - A
- Physics w Calc ( 5 units) - A
-----------------------------
21 units over the fall
-----------------------------
I retook my ACT last fall in October: 33
EC’s:
-Had multiple paid and non paid internships including: data analysis, marketing, and business development.
-President of Finance for my CC’s student body
-Held a job for most if not all my two years at CC
Essays:
-Did not think they were very strong. I went onto the Dyson website and reiterated basically what they were saying of what the school can offer me, the faculty, prestige etc…
-Talked heavily on the CC experience and what my hopes and visions are for transferring to wherever.
- Did not talk about my heritage, or anything having to do with my race.
-If you want to see my essays, PM me and I can share them with you.
-I do not think that this was a significant factor in my overall “applicant portfolio.”
Note:
- I took over 5 online classes that counted towards my transfer credits. I have read that people are hesitant on taking online classes, thinking they wont satisfy–but I guess they do.
- I applied to UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, Boston college, NYU and Cornell – All for their business programs:
Denied: UC Berkeley, UCLA, NYU
Accepted: USC, Boston college, Cornell.
I am shocked and excited that I got accepted, as I was not standing as an extremely competitive applicant. I want to thank all of those that I have contributed to this thread and helping me learn more about the incoming student body and that damn pin trick. thanks
@Winky1 I’m not in Human Ecology but generally if the school offers credit for an AP exam, your daughter should be fine not taking that class at Pitt.
See here: https://www.human.cornell.edu/sites/default/files/Academics/Registrar/AP%20Cheat%20Sheet%20Fa17%20entering%20freshmen%20%2008.28.17.pdf
If she specifically needs Psychology to transfer in, I’d advise her to register for it just because she can always drop it if she gets a 5. Assuming she does get credit for Biology and Psychology, she should still sign up for classes that would count for some sort of credit towards graduation at Cornell. This should help:

Thank you @mcw2017 . She has a phone apt. coming up with a Human Ec advisor.
Congrats man! We have very similar stats.
I got in to SHA with 3.9x GPA and 32 ACT (also retook it in Feb) and 2 SAT subject tests 730/700.
I got so much stress over ACT because my score did not go over 30 till November… And I got luck in December and got 32. I actually gave up on ACT after my November test. I understand how much effort and work you put into( well u got 33 so u deserve more).
Did you apply for a financial aid? If so, how much are u getting?
I am sure UCB and UCLA did not let you in because they do not ask for ACT score. But man congrats and see you soon bruh!
I just wrote what I have learned as a manager at a restaurant and what I learned in US army as a leader. Just wrote about leadership!
any other SHA applicant still waiting?
@transferkid24 I’m still waiting
@unknowndoc do you think this is a good or bad sign?
